Every one that I have purchased to put in has already been gapped by the manufacturer spot on. I just look at them now and do not even check with a gap tool any more. Never had a problem with them.

A: This spark plug should have a gap set to 0.02 inches.
For most racing applications, you usually want the plug gap to be between 0.020 and 0.040 of an inch. Most engine builders seem to settle around 0.035 of an inch. Factors such as the type of ignition you run, cylinder heads, fuel and even timing can affect how much gap will work best for you.
However, if the spark plug gap is too large, the spark is unlikely to consistently “jump” across the long distance between electrodes, thus leading to a rough-running engine or one that doesn`t run at all.
But if the spark gap is too small, there won`t be enough room for the airfuel mixture between the ground electrode and center electrode. So when the spark plug fires, there`s a possibility that nothing ignites. A wide gap between the center electrode and ground electrode allows for a strong, clean burn.
Common armature gap ranges are . 006 – . 010″ and . 010 – .
The easiest way to check what kind of spark plug your mower needs is to check at your local hardware store. If you have the make and model the sales associates should be able to help you find the right plugs for your machine.
One of the key factors that makes a spark plug work well, or not, is the size of the gap between the electrodes. If the gap is too small, the spark will likely be too weak and cause the engine to run poorly or with poor efficiency.
A) For 28-32 cc engines, set the gap at 0.020″ (0.5 mm). B) For 38-55 cc engines, set the gap at 0.025″ (0.635 mm). IMPORTANT!: Always refer to the appropriate product Operator`s Manual for exact specifications and additional model specific service information when replacing spark plugs.
