Most pressure washer pumps use a 30w non-detergent oil. This is because most pressure washer pumps use splash lubrication. This is a process that includes rotating “dippers” that throw oil into the pistons and cylinders.
SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40 are oils that are useful in both hot summer and cold winter days. For example, if you are looking to use your pressure washer and the temperatures are about 40 degrees (F) or less, SAE 10W-30 will be your failsafe option. Anything about 40 degrees, it can still be your best option.
Pressure washer water pumps need relatively low oil recommended by the manufacturer, as specified in the owner`s manual. (Purchase pre-measured bottles of pump oil for water pumps without dipsticks.) Never use special oil additives or detergents, unless specified in the owner`s manual.
We recommend to use type 32A hydraulic oil. You can use a food grade oil if required for food grade applications.
ISO VG 68 and VG 100 mineral or synthetic oils are used, although properly formulated ISO VG 32 synthetics (but not mineral oils) will serve the majority of pump bearings and also virtually all types of rolling-element bearings in electric motors.

Gas-powered pressure washers need pump oil changes, too. Pump oil is different from engine oil. It works to cool and lubricate a different but equally important part of your washer — the pump. Learning how to change both types of oil is vital to getting the best and longest performance from your pressure washer.

What oil do i use in the pump? The oil is milky and needs changing.
Well you can use direct recommended from Ace Hardware see link.
They recommend 250 hours, but i’d change more often, like you said when it’s milky. If it begins to get water in the oil sooner, that indicates your piston to crankcase seal is beginning to leak.
Pump oil leak where pump connects to engine
With that few hours, you need to return it as the seal shouldn’t leak. Probably was improper pump assembly, so you should take it back, because it will only get worse and fail. Hope this helps you, Rick

If you left it sit for a while & did not turn the fuel tap off,it may have flooded and therefore the oil level would have risen causing the oil to over flow.
always turn the fuel tap off when not using your pressure wahser.
No pressure Pump reassembly. I purchased a new pump and installed it. Got machine back together and I’m not getting any pressure. What would be the signs if I don’t have the shaft key in properly? Or any other suggestions?
Water comes out of nozzle with pressure for a quick second then no pressure, just water. This is a brand new pump so was curious if I installed it wrong. Wondering before taking it apart again.
No pressure would be a sign that the key was not in properly.

I think I added too much oil to my pressure washer. It lost pressure after about 20 minutes, then smoke came our where the exhaust area is. I immediately turned it off. Then I noticed oil dripping from the oil filter. What do you might have happened and what should I do?
Drain the oil until the proper level is reached….let the unit sit for awhile until cool and then remove spark plug and clean it….i think it should be just fine….good luck
