Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Check the start stop switch, sometimes they can get dirty causing the saw not to get spark. Also maybe check Your air cleaner. if it’s clogged it may be flooding itself out?

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If the chainsaw won`t start, or starts and then stops and you find the spark plug wet with fuel mixture, it means that the engine is flooded (you will probably smell petrol). It happens when too much fuel enters the combustion chamber, possibly because you have pressed the primer many times.
Remove the spark plug and inspect if it is dirty, cracked, eroded, or damaged. There may also be a heavy carbon buildup or a burned-up electrode. If the spark plug has one or more of these issues, replace it with a new one.
If your electric chainsaw won`t start, try examining it for these issues: Not pressing the safety button at the same time as the trigger. Tripped electrical breaker (for corded chainsaws) Frayed or damaged electrical cord (for corded chainsaws)
A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
note: cars with carburetors — typically those made before the 1990s — will normally give off a gas smell at times. this is due to the way carburetors are designed, with a float bowl that houses some residual fuel after you shut the car off.
The most obvious sign of faulty spark plug wires is your vehicle just feels a little `off. ` It would probably start slowly with reduced gas mileage but could progress to no acceleration. Faulty spark plug wires or spark plug misfires can also cause problems starting your engine, a rough idle, and loss of power.
If no spark appears, check for broken wires, shorts, grounds or a defective stop switch. Once you have confirmed that the stop switch is working, reconnect the spark plug lead.
If you only smell gas when you first start your car, then you`re most likely dealing with a gas leak somewhere in or around your vehicle. This may be coming from the engine itself, the fuel line or the exhaust system where gas emissions evaporate.
This means your engine may need some service, to repair bad fuel injectors, a bad O2 sensor, a clogged intake filter or other problem related to the engine`s air/fuel ratio.
If you haven`t changed your car`s oil in a while, it is possible for gas to have made its way into the oil pan. Even if it is only a small amount at a time, it will eventually cause your oil to smell like gas if you change your oil infrequently.

It ran like a champ. I put it away and a week later it wont start. Acts just like it did before I changed everything

Just bought a new 26ss gas powered weed eater. This is my 3rd time using it and it wont start. I keep it in my shed out of bad weather, so I know it’s kept in good condition. I havn’t used it in 2 weeks and last time I did it ran fine. Yesterday I followed the instructions to crank it and nothing. I have the proper gas to oil ratio, and like I said it’s brand new so I’m pretty sure it cant be the spark plug, and the fuel lines look in tact. One question I have gas in the bubbls just wandering what else it could be? Thanks!!!

ANSWER : It has an electromagnetic clutch switch on it,that is more than likely bad. Try this, pull the pto switch out and start the engine, then disconnect the 2 wires coming from the switch and just tap them together and see if they will come on. If they do then you need to replace that switch.

ANSWER : Your carburator is clogged.
1st make sure you have FRESH gas.
Empty and clean the fuel tank
Remove and disassemble the carburator and soak it in fresh gas for about 15 minutes to disolve any gunk.

Using a can of small carburator cleaner ( available at Lowes, Home Depot etc.) blow out all the ports.
reassemble and refuel with clean fresh gas
The little carbs clog easily
