Appears to have adequate fuel and spark but wont run
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Did you try putting a little fuel in the carb to see if it starts. if it does you goy carb or fuel line problems. if it does not remove spark plug and look at inside of cylinder for scoring if there is saw is junk.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If it won`t start or fire with spray fuel, you probably have an ignition system problem, most likely a bad ignition coil. However, if it starts and dies, that proves the ignition is working and the problem is fuel starvation. Check the fuel filter first by disconnecting the fuel line from the filter to the carb.
If your Briggs & Stratton engine has a spark but won`t run, then it is most likely a problem with the gas or air intake in the engine. The spark on the spark plug ignites the gas in the piston, but if the air filter is clogged or the gas can`t flow, then the engine won`t start.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
Common causes include a dirty air filter, spark plug, and carburetor. To fix these issues, replace the fuel filter, clean the carburetor and spark plug, and replace the fuel if it is old as illustrated below.
Check the following: Clogged muffler, clogged exhaust port, fuel restrictions, low compression, poor ignition spark, too much oil in gas or improper air/fuel mixture in carburetor. . Clean carburetor jets and air filter. Check clutch gear wheel for worn or greasy clutch pads.
The starter will not have any impact on the engine`s ability to produce spark. There are a number of issues that may cause an ignition system to not produce spark. A bad crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (on engines that do not have a distributor), or broken, loose or corroded wires from the sensor to the PCM.
If the carburetor has any sort of issue that disturbs the air fuel ratio it may result in hard starting. Depending on the exact nature of the issue, the vehicle may be hard to start, and get better as the engine warms up, or it may also be difficult to start even when warmed up.
Why won`t my car start but I have power? If you attempt to start up your car but the engine won`t turn over and the dashboard lights up, then you most likely have an issue with your battery. You could have a damaged or corroded battery terminal, which is stopping the engine from starting up when you fully turn the key.
An airlock is one of the common causes why your mower won`t start after running out of fuel. An Airlock occurs when air replaces fuel in the fuel lines. As you refill your fuel tank, you could push the air towards your mower`s carburetor, which keeps the new fuel from reaching the engine.
A Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor

The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position and rotational speeds of the crankshaft. Without the crank sensor, the engine control module (ECM) wouldn`t know when to fire the fuel injectors and ignite the spark plugs.

With a poor ground the starter ring return path may not allow adequate amps to return to allow a starter to reach the torque and speed to start. Normally, however, with a well tuned car and cranking, the engine will fire right up. Weakness, though, and it may not start.
If spark plugs are misfiring or performing poorly, your gas mileage will be affected. Spark plugs are responsible for sparking engine combustion. They can`t do that if they aren`t working efficiently. Bad oxygen sensors and air filters can reduce gas mileage by as much as 20%!
Without spark plugs, some vehicles won`t start — or go anywhere. Because the health of this car part is directly linked to engine performance, bad spark plugs can often lead to more significant problems, including prolonged cold-starting and misfires during acceleration.
Worn piston rings or reed valves that are no longer sealing properly may be the cause of the poor startability characteristic. When the piston rings don`t seal properly, the engine doesn`t build good compression, so when kicked, the engine struggles to come to life.
The strength of the spark is revealed in the color. A red or yellow spark is weak and probably will not spark in the cylinder. A blue or white spark is strong and has enough voltage to fight across the spark plug gap even under pressure within the cylinder.
Some other typical reasons engines fail to start include:

Low or discharged battery. Corroded or loose battery cables. Starter motor relay failure. Ignition switch failure.

Dead Engine

Finally, your vehicle might not start because of the battery, alternator, starter, fuel filter, or the fuel pump. All of these things play a role in getting your vehicle started. If the pump is dead, you won`t be able to get gas into the combustion chamber to start the car.

If the starter motor spins but does not crank the engine, you likely have a problem with… Faulty or damaged battery. To address this issue, check the battery and charging system for problems.
The most common three reasons being that your Mini Cooper is suffering from some type of alternator problem, your battery is dead, or the starter has gone bad. Of the three main reasons for your Mini Cooper not starting, a dead battery is the most common, followed by a bad alternator and then a bad starter.

Why my blade wont engage on my toro 74370 zeroturn mower
ANSWER : It has an electromagnetic clutch switch on it,that is more than likely bad. Try this, pull the pto switch out and start the engine, then disconnect the 2 wires coming from the switch and just tap them together and see if they will come on. If they do then you need to replace that switch.

Whats the problem?
ANSWER : Set intake valves @ .004 and exhuats @ .006 with piston a 1/4 inch downstroke from TDC.It sounds like the ACR {automatic compression release}is not working do to valves having to much lash.

Does not run, will start with starting fluid – Mantis 2-Cycle Tiller
ANSWER : You should never use starting fluid on this model.

Add a couple of ounces of 100% acetone (available at Walmart) to some fresh fuel. Attempt to start for several pulls. Let sit for several minutes and repeat until it sounds like it wants to run.

Then watch this video and do it:

Bobcat 773 wont restart after dying out where do i start?
ANSWER : If the bobcat starts and then runs for a short time then dies the first place to look is the fuel system.fuel filters are the most common problems that i see replace those first.i have also found some junk inside the pickup tube inside the tank.there is probably a ball type hand pump to prime the fuel system.give that a squeeze and see if its hard.if thats the case there shoud be a small screw on top of the fuel filter.loosen that screw and see if fuel comes out when you sqeeze the ball.if your changing fuel filters this is also where you blead air from the system, keep pumping untill there is only fuel and no air.if you still get air after pumping for a long time then your sucking air into the system between the tank and pump.after you get fuel there close the screw, loosen the injector lines going to the injectors, crank the engine, and tighten when fuel comes out (keep clear because that is high pressure fuel).after you get fuel at all injectors and they are all tightened it should start.
