The starter, batterie, a safty switch, or the solenoid could be the problem ill give you a test for each. first the starter turn on the key switch to try and crank the mower if you hear a fast clicking sound then its the starters gone bad so to make sure put a batterie booster to the batterie to double check if it still makes the sound its the starter but dont hold the key for too long while doing this because you WILL burn the starter up, and also try turning the motor by hand while you crank it to give it a boost, and to see if the starter is already burned up touch the starter to see if its hot if you dont know what the starter is then while sitting on the mower it will be on the right hand side of the motor it will be a big cylinder that has the positive red wire going to it, it is what turns the motor. next if it DOSNT make a clicking sound and wont do anything at all not even turn on the lights hook the batterie booster to it and if you dont have a batterie booster just hook it up to your car, it should crank if all it is just the batterie being dead if so get a new one. next the solenoid this is a little tricky its under the panel that when you sit on the mower its right below you where you shift gears if you dont shift gears there it will still be there or just follow the positive wire on the batterie and it will lead you to the solenoid, the test is to take a screwdriver, or anything metal and touch the two prongs on top together to get a spark so your basicle grounding the solenoid out and if it cranks you have a bad solenoid, so replace it. and lastly many new lawn mowers and old have various safty swithes one mane problem is the seat switch its located under your seat so just unhook it and try it theres one that goes to the blade engagment lever theres one where the clutch is , theres the pto switch (if you have that feature) so just check those out hopefully its not those, if all the other tips dont help messege me back if you think its a safty switch, i hope this helps and like i said just feel free to ask me anything i have worked on lawnmowers for 6 years with my father, who has worked on them for 18 years so i like to think he thought me a little, i hope this helps you, Jamie.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
Riding Mower Clicks but Doesn`t Crank

When you hear a click as you turn the key, a weak battery, bad starter solenoid, faulty wiring, failed starter motor or a seized engine could be the cause.

The fuse block location may vary with the age and style of the mower, but is generally located along the wiring harness between the battery and the key switch. On our current style riding mowers, the fuse will either be: A) Under the hood, behind the steering dash panel.
The reasons why mower is not moving forward or reverse is that the battery is dead, or due to clogged fuel line. Additionally, malfunctioning transmission, or a broken drive belt, also a faulty spark plug, even when friction wheel isn`t in contact with the friction plate, or damaged Tires.
If the starter motor spins but does not crank the engine, you likely have a problem with… Faulty or damaged battery. To address this issue, check the battery and charging system for problems.
Usually, this points to a faulty relay or solenoid, or a bad or jammed starter motor. Solution: Rock your car back and forth or tap the starter motor with a hammer and try starting the engine again. If this works, you are good to go!
A clogged fuel filter is most commonly caused by leaving old fuel in the lawn mower. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the fuel filter and make the engine hard to start.
