Remove the spark plug and inspect if it is dirty, cracked, eroded, or damaged. There may also be a heavy carbon buildup or a burned-up electrode. If the spark plug has one or more of these issues, replace it with a new one.
Check the Carburetor
In warm weather, your Poulan chain saw may fail to start after sitting for 15 to 30 minutes because the carburetor has become vapor locked. This occurs when hot gas evaporates in the carburetor and prevents the right amount of fuel from reaching it.
There may be old or bad fuel in the carburetor float bowl. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and make the engine hard to start. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
One tell-tale sign that a chainsaw has flooded is the smell of fresh petrol near the muffler. To ascertain whether this is indeed the problem, simply disassemble the part, pull the starter cord as if you were switching on the engine, then dry it, reassemble it and try switching it on again.
Oil, dirt, and debris can block them, preventing the air from flowing into the engine. If the idle port of your chainsaw gets blocked or damaged, your chainsaw won`t stay running. Check the idle port for damage or blockage. If it`s blocked, you can clean it using alcohol, kerosene, or any solvent.
Smart Start is one of Husqvarna`s unique technology because when their chainsaws are installed with it, it means it`s extremely easy to start. No more trying to crank it until you get tired of it.
