Bar and chain oil is stickier than regular motor oil, so it stays on the chain longer. Motor oil flings off the chain more quickly, so if you try Terry`s tip, be prepared to refill the oil on your chain saw more quickly than with regular bar and chain oil.
One particularly bad idea is the use of motor oil, especially old, used motor oil that has been drained from an engine: Motor oil is not the right viscosity for lubricating chains. Debris contained in used motor oil can wear down the bar`s groove and damage the chain.
Used Engine Oil
Used motor oil can also be an alternative chain lube for your chainsaw`s chain and bars.
Sure, but it`s not well advised. It`s an oil, incompressible, but too viscous to be useful for a jack. I`ve used power steering fluid, gearoil, cooking oil, engine oil and probably quite a lot of other things in both chainsaws and car jacks, but the general rule is to use what is designated.
Gear oil and motor oil are not the same thing, and they are not interchangeable. Gear oil is specially formulated for use on gears.

Sounds like the ports on the bar are possibly clogged with debris or the oil lines going down to the bar are clogged. Check both of them to see if that might be the problem.
Is 10-30w car oil ??? Okay to use as the Oil on the Chainsaw Bar of a Remington Pole Saw Model 106890-02?
Car engine oil has not got a non fling addative so will just spray off the end of the bar and not lubricate the chain where it does most of its cutting, on the underside of the bar.

On a husqavarna 362 xp special 71cc chainsaw very little oil is coming out to the chain i have removed the chain and bar and cleaned and still very little oil is making it to the chain what should i do ??
Check to see if there is an oil-volume adjustment screw located near the lower part of the chain where it goes into the cover, but mounted in the main case. It might be underneath the case in about the same location. Turn it CCW somewhat, if found, and check for oiling by holding the bar tip running at speed near some cardboard. If properly oiled, it will throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. If there is no adjustment, then you will have to investigate the oil pump, lines, and filter/valve in the oil tank. Make sure to clean the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar. Hope this helps!
Bar chain oil leaking into case when not in use
If you store it somewhere other than a climate controlled building , the changes in temperature can cause the oil to expand out of the saw a little each time the temp. goes up.

16″ Electric Chain Saw: what kind of oil is used for electric chain saw…
I assume you are asking about the oil for the chain. Any good quality “Bar and Chain Oil” will do fine. Do not use motor oil you use in your car engine as it will not properly lube the chain and will result in quicker dulling and early demise of the chain.
You can get the “Bar and Chain Oil” at most hardware stores or Farm Supply stores.
