Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
In most cases this is a failing stater or coil on the engine. They tend to work when they are cold but after warming up they will no longer product enough power to create a spark at the spark plug. The easiest way to test this is to run the engine until it dies and then check for spark either with a spark tester or by removing the spark plug, re-connecting it to the plug wire and then touching the threads of the spark plug to the head of the engine. If you don’t have spark your coil / stater is bad. If you have questions please feel free to contact me using the information below.Sincerely,Aron KerrLanda Northwest, [email protected]

Stale fuel that`s been sitting in a gas pressure washer may need to be cleaned out. If your gas-powered Generac, DeWalt, or Craftsman power washer won`t start, it could be because of old fuel. Fuel that`s been sitting in your gas pressure washer for 6 months or more can oxidize and become contaminated.
A power washer that won`t start after running out of gas likely suffers from an air-locked fuel system or dirt in the carburetor. Draining the gas bowl very often fixes the issue.
Machine Type: Gas pressure washers can typically run for about 30 minutes before they need a break. Electric models can usually go for an hour or more.
Your pressure washer is hard to pull start because with each pull you are building up pressure in the system from the pump. It seems like an obvious explanation, but it is true. When you pull the starter cord it will create pressure within the system.
Begin isolating the problem by hooking a water hose to the washer`s inlet and turning it on. If water flows out the outlet, you know water is cycling through. If not, chances are your inlet filter is clogged. Remove and clean it, and you should be good to go.

New pressure washer runs starts and runs for 30-45 minutes with no problems then dies and will not restart. Once it cools for a few minutes it will restart but will die again quickly. If it is allowed to sit for 30+ minutes it will run for another half hour but then dies again. Changed oil, gas, checked all obvious areas. Any suggestions?
ANSWER : Try removing the carb bowl and check for dirt/water etc , also if the machine is over heating it may be getting vapour locked

Does not run, will start with starting fluid – Mantis 2-Cycle Tiller
ANSWER : You should never use starting fluid on this model.

Add a couple of ounces of 100% acetone (available at Walmart) to some fresh fuel. Attempt to start for several pulls. Let sit for several minutes and repeat until it sounds like it wants to run.

Then watch this video and do it:

My Honda 2600 psi power washer will not pull to start. It was running great then I allowed the neighbor to borrow it. He ran the washer till it was out of gas and proceeded to refuel and at this point it would no longer start. The pull cord is out about 4-6 inches out and I am concerned about taking the casing off myself.

Fearing that it may throw more off on the unit. If i take the casing off are there any spring loaded parts that will dismount?

What should I do? Spark Plug? Turn wrenches?

Please let me know

ANSWER : You should be fine to take the recoil off, there shouldn’t be anything that shoots out at you. You might want to check the oil level on the engine, many of the Honda engines won’t start unless there is enough oil in them. If your oil level is fine, check to make sure that your motor is getting spark.

My pressure washer runs 4 about 20-25 min then it starts knocking and pinging then shutsdown it has plenty of oil i checked it and replaced it with 5-20 oil it starts hard always has if you let it sit for about an hour it will start back up sound fine and work good untill it happens again any thoughts to what might be happening to it?
ANSWER : Sounds like the engine is overheating either due to restricted air flow over the cylinder and head assembly, or the engine is running very lean due to a plugged fuel filter, dirty carburetor, or plugged muffler. Hope this helps!
