Check the Fuse: If you have done all the repairs and replacements and your electric pressure washer is still not working, it may have something to do with the fuse. Inspect the fuse if it is blown or not. Replace the blown fuse with a new one and test the device again.
Many pressure problems begin and end at the unloader. A cracked o-ring, dirt caught in the spring or a stuck shaft are the most common issues solved by simply removing the unloader and cleaning/looking for issues.
Put your finger into the drain outlet and feel the impellers if the pump freely turns. One or more of them may be broken. If so, you`ll be able to feel them while you`re turning the pump flywheel with your other hand. You also may see broken pieces of plastic in the bottom of the pump housing.
If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
If the pump is leaking, the cause may be minor and easy to repair. Check the seals, packings, and O-rings for wear. These can easily be replaced, saving you the cost of a new pump. However, major leaks such as the ones caused by cracked or damaged plungers, can lead to pump failures.
No water jet from the nozzle of the pressure washer > check if the nozzle itself is not clogged – if this is the case, clean or replace it. Also check if the water mains tap is correctly opened and that there is no problem in the flow of the suction hose.

Need help in getting Honda engine on NorthStar pressure washer to run.
Could be low water pressure I have found. Also, I purchased a can of “stuff” at Lowes today which allows you to circulate a liquid substance which lubricates the pressure pump….the pump could be frozen up…I have a rotating nozzle which I bought…and it had frozen up…this stuff works
Oil appears to have come out of the oil filler cap. Is this a sign of overfilling the oil, or something else?
Id definitley say its over filled. try checking the dipstick
This pressure washer will continue to build pressure when you let off the trigger. I have replaced the hose 3 times because the pump continues to pump until it blows the hose. The pump will not stop pumping!
You have a defective pressure release valve or someone has misadjusted.
Can i run plus gas in my washer – Northstar Pressure Washer 3000 PSI
I’m not sure what you mean.I think you are asking if your power washer needs oil mixed with the gas.Does your machine have a oil reservoir below the engine? If there is a place to put engine oil, then your engine runs on ordinary gasoline. The pump oil is SAE20 or SAE30 non-detergent motor oil > oil comes up half way inside box.The engine oil is 10W30 motor oil > oil comes up bit more than half way on dipstick
Has no pressure, builds up when not holding trigger on gun, but when i press trigger shoots of with pressure the nothing just water comes out.
My pressure washer will start for a second and then shuts down. I just bought it from a friend and don,t think the springs to the govner are right but not sure.would like a skicamitc of the engine or manual so i can see if they are right
When you start your engine open wand trigger this will probably allow you to get the engine warmed up and I think it’ll work for you it used to work for us .
What oil do i use in the pump? The oil is milky and needs changing.
Well you can use direct recommended from Ace Hardware see link.
They recommend 250 hours, but i’d change more often, like you said when it’s milky. If it begins to get water in the oil sooner, that indicates your piston to crankcase seal is beginning to leak.
1750 psi Electric Pressure Washer: My pressure washer is losing pressure and is pulsa…
If the pressure washer is pulsating then that is a sign of check valve failure. You may be able to clean of replace the check valves. Replacing the head is the wrong way to go. This is completely unnecessary. If you can tell me the model number of your pressure washer then I can assist you better in pointing you in the right direction.
