920013 – Snow Blower, 120V, 22in

After some time of cleaning the snow, some times the engine doesn’t shut off when I turn the switch to off position even if I remove the key, the engine remains working. Not all the times had happened but the last 3 times I used it, it happened, so what I did to shut it off was to turn the gas valve to off.

You may have high carbon buildup in your piston/cylinder. The engine may fire via a DIESEL ignition. That is, as the fuel compresses in the compression stroke, it ignites just from the residual heat in the hot carbon in the combustion chamber (like an old 1970s car). Try a higher octane fuel (up to 92 or 93). Higher octane resists combustion until the soarkplug fires.

It is normal for a snow thrower engine to run in this manner. The engines on snow throwers are set to run with a slightly rich fuel mixture. This is to prevent the engine from bogging or stalling when the snow thrower suddenly experiences a heavy load of snow.
If your snowblower won`t turn on or start, you can insert the key in the starter switch. There could be a problem with your starter switch or motor. To test the starter switch, you can use a multimeter. If the starter switch is not working properly, replace it.
Electric Start (Push Button) Snowblowers

Because snow blowers are used in cold weather, a battery would not function well. Therefore, it`s necessary to plug it in to use the electric start.

An overheating engine will run poorly; as the engine overheats, it expands and allows a vacuum leak. In this case, the gaskets are good; they have just reached their max tolerance. The issue is not the gaskets; it`s the overheating engine itself. Your snowblower is what`s known as an air-cooled engine.
Let the machine run for at least five minutes to let the engine time to warm up, fuel to run through the system, etc. Engage the drive and auger a couple times to make sure all is working as it should too. Then, after it is fully shut down, check for any drips, frayed belts, etc. That`s basically it.
A build-up of snow in the discharge chute is a common snow blower problem. Snow build-up can prevent snow from blowing, so shut off your snow blower and clear any snow buildup in the chute. If the chute is clear, check the augers and auger drive system for problems. Defective impeller.
This can be caused by a variety of things, including low transmission fluid levels, worn-out clutch pads, or a problem with the torque converter. Another possible cause of over revving is an issue with the engine itself. This could be something as simple as a dirty air filter or spark plugs that need to be replaced.
Remember the choke is closed for starting.

Close it fully for cold conditions or a cold engine. Close it only 1/2 or 3/4 for temps of 30 degrees or warmer. And don`t close it if you`re restarting the snowblower less than five minutes after engine shut off.
