The reasons why mower is not moving forward or reverse is that the battery is dead, or due to clogged fuel line. Additionally, malfunctioning transmission, or a broken drive belt, also a faulty spark plug, even when friction wheel isn`t in contact with the friction plate, or damaged Tires.
Failure of any mechanical component, a broken hose, or clogged filter will cause tractor hydrostatic transmission problems. But the most common issue will be the oil itself. In the transmission section of your operator`s manual, you`ll find a section that covers oil viscosity.
So can you push a self-propelled lawnmower? You can push a self-propelled lawnmower, it won`t damage the transmission in any way. However, it may be difficult to do so, self propelled mowers are a little heavier than a regular push mower.
Low tire air pressure on the slow side. A worn drive belt that is too loose on the trans. farthest from the tensioner.
Most self propelled mowers utilize a solid shaft drive transfer system that turns the drive axle to both wheels simultaneously. If the drive loss is only in one wheel, the problem is likely a trapped, broken, or missing part within the drive ratchet or gear system of the non-functioning wheel.
It works in much the same way any gas or battery-powered mower works. The difference is that the mower pushes itself forward instead of the operator (you) pushing from behind. As with most gas-powered lawn mowers, hold down the handlebar and pull the cord. Then pull up on the drive lever to engage the drive system.
Yes, you can push-start a riding lawn mower—but only if it has a clutch that isn`t connected to the brake. If the clutch and brake pedal are the same, it won`t work.
Turning a self-propelled lawn mower is a relatively simple process. First, you will need to disengage the mower`s self-propulsion system by moving the drive lever to the “off” position. Once this is done, you can begin to turn the mower by pushing the handlebar in the direction of the turn.
Operating a manual lawn mower takes some effort, and you may be operating it more often, so make sure you`re up for the exercise. While they don`t require as much maintenance as a gas-powered model, these mowers do require maintenance to provide a good cut.
Clogged or Dirty Air Filters
It is one of the most common problems that cause lawnmowers to sputter. The mowers take the air from the surrounding through air filters and mix it with fuel inside the engine. So, if the air filter is clogged or dirty, it will affect the flow of air into the carburetor.
The possible causes of a lawn mower blade spinning but not cutting grass include a damaged or wrongly installed blade, a dull blade, or damaged lawnmower tires. Other possible reasons can be improper tire pressure, a clogged deck, or a broken mower belt.
The reason the lawnmower blade maybe jamming is because the grass is getting wrapped around the blade, preventing it from moving. A simple fix is often to increase the cutting height of your lawnmower.

My front two wheels on my toro lawn mower will not move, and when I pull the handle up for self-propel, the wheels still don’t move and the mower makes a funny noise. Any ideas?
Look to see if the belt can off or broke… good luck.
Lawnmower front wheels are locked
Take it apart and clean it. Grass and oil can easily clog any lawn equipment. Is it belt driven? If so turn the belt with your hand the way it would normally rotate. Follow the belt to the engine and clean the rotor if that doesnt work.
Toro cutting off
Maybe low oil level, all mowers have a low oil cutoff. 30w oil.
I have had a poulan pro 550 series push mower for almost 1 year at the end of the season last year the mower would start briefly and then stop. i have cleaned out the air filter and that did not help.the mower started, i made one revolution around the yard 3/4th of the way the mower quit. I then primed the mower it started then quit and now it will not start at all. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do. Thanks
There is a little spring that works the carburetor arm. If that popped off then the mower will not run.
Lawn mower cranck but wont start…
Since you already checked for spark and air I would drain all the fuel out of it and check that fuel for water. Over time some lawn mowers end up with contaminated fuel. You can see the water sitting on the bottom of the fuel if you let it stand for a bit in a small plastic bowl.
Be sure to empty and dry out you fuel can as well. Especially if the mower stopped running right after a refuel. Which is a good sign your gas can is contaminated too.
Is the rubber on the drive wheel on the snapper mower fixed to the metal hub? The rubber wheel part of the drive is not securely attached to the metal frame and slips when the mower goes up hill. Should I replace the drive wheel?
Yes, it may have gotten excessive oil on it and swelled the rubber. Replace the drive wheel.
