How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Compression loss is a result of a leak in one or more of the cylinders caused by normal engine wear and tear. If you experience compression loss in one cylinder of the engine, it can cause misfiring and poor vehicle performance. A decrease in power output is a sign of worn-out internal parts.
A cylinder can fail to seal and then fail to develop compression due to the following defects: 1) a leaking head gasket; 2) a stuck valve; 3) a burnt valve; 4) a damaged valve seat; 5) a piston ring issue; 5) an engine timing belt mispositioned (unlikely if 3 cylinders are good).
Exhaust valves and air intake valves at the top of the cylinder can also get overheated, and leak gas or the valve seals can become too worn to seal the gas in properly. Either way, the result is often low compression. Several valve problems can lead to low compression. For one, you may have a dropped valve seat.
If one cylinder has low compression, try pouring about a teaspoon of oil into the spark-plug hole and retesting. If compression increases, it`s likely the rings are stuck or worn. The oil acts as a seal and helps close the gap between the rings and the cylinder wall through which the cylinder is losing pressure.
A compression problem, from the algorithmic point of view, is to find an effective and efficient algorithm to remove various redundancy from certain types of data. In this stage, we want to understand the problem precisely and ask the right questions.
One of the easiest and most cost-effective methods of increasing engine compression may be done by simply replacing the existing head gaskets. Substituting steel shim gaskets, for example, in place of traditional composition-style units can raise the compression ratio slightly and reduce quench clearance by roughly .
Compression loss results in less horsepower generated by the engine, as well as increased oil consumption and sludge formation due to combustion blow-by. RESTORE Engine Restorer & Lubricant® is the only product proven to repair worn cylinders and restore compression back to near original levels.

When I pull the recoil rope it seems to have lost compression and won’t start. Pulls easier but with no compression behind each pull. Any ideas?
ANSWER : Have you checked the compression? A lot of  two stroke cycle engines are running less lube due to emission which results in far more wear. Sometimes people don’t realize that oil has to bve added to the gasoline.thus wearing the engine to the no compression state.

My poulan pro 295 has very low compression what do i need to do to fix it
ANSWER : Its either seized, or the rings are worn, either way you need to remove the cylinder to see just what has happened, if there is scuffing on the exhaust side of the piston, it will require a new piston, if the cylinder wall will not clean up well enough it will need a cylinder as well, if there is no scuffing replace the piston ring,

Have 60 lbs compression is this low , poulan chain saw mod p3314
ANSWER : 60psi hmmmmm??? it wont even start up on that?? yes it is very low
most engines run on about 120 to 180psi and the 120psi end being low! how did you test this presher??? you need a good true screw in gage and a very strong swing to build the presher up a push in gage is usless and a soft pull wont build the presher up,,,it dont realy matter how big the engine is or how many cc’s it is it still needs to get to 120psi to start and run well,,,,me thinks you may need a set of piston rings fitted to this engine just to run it up,

Husqvarna chain saw not starting. Seems to have lost compression. What should the compression be?
ANSWER : If its lost compression i would remove the two/three screws holding the muffler, take a look through the exhaust port at the piston, if there is any sign of scuffing or damage it is going to be cylinder off.
