How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

Remove the air filter and spray carburetor cleaner into the intake. Let it sit for several minutes to help loosen and dissolve varnish. Replace the filter and try starting the trimmer. If this doesn`t solve the problem, consider disassembling the carburetor to give it a more thorough cleaning.
When your trimmer starts and runs on choke, it could be because the check valve in the gas cap is clogged. Start the trimmer and gently unscrew the gas cap halfway off. Turn the choke off and assess. If the engine is still running, that means the gas cap may be the culprit.

As with plug fouling, too much oil in the gasoline, inferior oil, a dirty air filter and/or continued operation at less than full throttle will plug the screen with carbon deposits. This prevents exhaust gas flow, which leads to power loss.

An electric trimmer`s power cord, switch, or motor may fail. A gas trimmer`s engine may be faulty. The air filter or exhaust port may be blocked. The trimmer may need lubrication and cooling fins or air passages may be blocked.
The most common problem with a strimmer not starting is that there`s a problem with the fuel mix. Double check that you`ve used 40 parts fresh unleaded petrol to 1 part 2-stroke oil (40:1). Check the petrol you`ve used isn`t stale.
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the string trimmer for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to stall.
Why would the engine only run while the choke is on or with repeated manual priming? An engine that requires the choking (partial or full) after initial engine warm up is an indication that the engine fuel air mixture system is out of adjustment.
The clutch engages the clutch pads to spin the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is defective, the clutch will not disengage the clutch pads, and the trimmer head will continue to spin, even at low speeds. If the clutch is defective, replace it. (Note: some string trimmers do not have a clutch.
If the engine is running fast (revving high):

Make sure that the choke is disengaged and the throttle hold has been reset by pressing the trigger. You can check the throttle cable to make sure there are no kinks found in it – however this requires a mechanical proficiency to strip down the machine uncovering the cable.

So, an air filter might clog over time. Once blocked with dust and debris, it cannot supply the required amount of oxygen to your trimmer` engine resulting in power loss. Find the air filter, take out this component, clean and reassemble it. Replace the part if you cannot reuse it.
The clutch engages the clutch pads to spin the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is defective, the clutch will not disengage the clutch pads, and the trimmer head will continue to spin, even at low speeds. If the clutch is defective, replace it.
The trimmer can sputter and stall if it isn`t getting enough fuel, and that can happen simply because the fuel filter is dirty. Fuel filters are inexpensive, and it`s more practical to replace a dirty one than it is to try to clean it. On most models, it`s in the gas tank or on the cap.
Although 4-stroke string trimmers have a reputation for lower emissions, better fuel efficiency, and high torque output, 2-stroke trimmers have their own advantages: Lighter weight. Easier maintenance.
The most likely culprit is a dirty or clogged air filter. Issues with your fuel pump or fuel filter can also cause your engine to idle then die with any throttle. If you have an older car, it could also be a bad carburetor.
The spark plugs are worn or damaged

If you find that your lawnmower keeps dying, or keeps stalling while cutting grass, then inspect the spark plugs. Look for signs of damage or wear. Something as simple as a cracked porcelain insulator can mean an electrode has been damaged or burned away.

Too little oil allows the piston and cylinder to become hot and destroys the engine. You must first remove the old fuel and oil mixture to replace it with the correct ratio.
Electric string trimmers start up effortlessly, perform quietly, and have zero emissions. On the flip side, gas string trimmers have endless run times (as long as you refuel) and, historically, better performance.

My trimmer starts but after warming up stops and wont start again
ANSWER : After it stalls take the fuel cap off and put it back on and see if it starts,maybe the cap is bad or clogged and not letting air in to equalize the pressure of the fuel being used

I can pull my string from a ryobi cs 30 and it wont go back
ANSWER : Either the rewind spring is broken or the starting spool is stripped. Either way you have to open up the entire unit. Check those two things and good luck…Lee
