The pump delivers good pressure and volume for about 2 – 3 minutes then the engine begins to pulse and finally kills while I am trying to use the washer.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Hi pulsing is usually a sign of insufficient water flow to the unit.
always get the largest water hose you can for the feed and check to see if your water system can keep up (if it is a three gallons per min machine grab a bucket and make sure you are getting at least 3 gallons per min before you plug the machine in.
The number one culprit for bad flow is the ez hoses or retractable hoses.

Honda 10W30 4-Cycle Engine Oil (1 Quart)
The gap is 0.028″– 0.031″ and the socket size is 13/16″ (21mm). Data for this page is based on official manuals from Honda.
Description: Chevron Supreme SAE 5W30 motor oil is ideal for use in pressure washers that use four-stroke gasoline engines.
Insert the dipstick into the tube slowly and push it all the way down. Now withdraw it and look closely at the tip, which should have oil on it. If the level of the oil is between the two lines, your vehicle has enough oil. If it`s at the low mark or below, it`s time to add a quart.

Honda powwer boss 3000-whenyoupull the handale to spray it kills the engine
Sounds like the unloader (regulator). Try removing the nozzle, the pull the trigger with the engine running. If motor is still running then it could be the Unloader malfunctioning. If you require a new one try a bypass system for the unloader. The bypass will help save the life of the unloader.
My Honda 2600 psi power washer will not pull to start. It was running great then I allowed the neighbor to borrow it. He ran the washer till it was out of gas and proceeded to refuel and at this point it would no longer start. The pull cord is out about 4-6 inches out and I am concerned about taking the casing off myself.
Fearing that it may throw more off on the unit. If i take the casing off are there any spring loaded parts that will dismount?
What should I do? Spark Plug? Turn wrenches?
Please let me know
You should be fine to take the recoil off, there shouldn’t be anything that shoots out at you. You might want to check the oil level on the engine, many of the Honda engines won’t start unless there is enough oil in them. If your oil level is fine, check to make sure that your motor is getting spark.
Honda powered gx160 model pressure washer wont start
Did you drain out the fuel before you stock it? If you didn’t, you may need to clean the carburetor or replace a new one because the fuel inside has become a kind of stick varnish. You may take a look at following link to see how to change or replace a carburetor. http://solosmallengine.blogspot.com
Hello i have a Honda GX160 and the engine will only run on choke if i close it the engine just splutters and thats it. it wont run at the norm i have replaced the carb the tank the air filter and the spark plug and know luck i have no more ideas as to what the problem really is thanks jord
Ii know you must have replaced the fuel filter. Did you replace the fuel line? It is obvious it is not betting enough fuel or it is out of time. Have you tried adjusting the jets on the carb? Have you checked the timing? There is a crankshaft key-way that may be bent just enough to get the engine out of time. And finally have you checked the fuel pump which I would suspect is your problem. The diaphragm may be busted.
New pressure washer runs starts and runs for 30-45 minutes with no problems then dies and will not restart. Once it cools for a few minutes it will restart but will die again quickly. If it is allowed to sit for 30+ minutes it will run for another half hour but then dies again. Changed oil, gas, checked all obvious areas. Any suggestions?
Try removing the carb bowl and check for dirt/water etc , also if the machine is over heating it may be getting vapour locked
Need help in getting Honda engine on NorthStar pressure washer to run.
Could be low water pressure I have found. Also, I purchased a can of “stuff” at Lowes today which allows you to circulate a liquid substance which lubricates the pressure pump….the pump could be frozen up…I have a rotating nozzle which I bought…and it had frozen up…this stuff works
