Stared running funny… got hot and quit! Pulled the plugs and crank the engine while grounging the plugs to the motor and no spark. Cleaned the battery terminals and just get a click from the electirc clutch. So is it the starter solenoid or electric clutch

While sitting in the seat with the ignition key on you should be able to hear a click from the pto clutch when the pto switch is activated but this click is audibly different from the click of the starter solenoid. The starter will be disabled if the pto switch is on. If you hear the pto clicking while trying to start then there is a failure in the pto switch. If the starter solenoid was bad the starter would not engage. Check ignition switch, pto switch, and look for wires melted together. Also be sure grounds are good. PTO clicking on start and no spark could have a relation with the pto ground and engine kill wire.

A Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor
The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position and rotational speeds of the crankshaft. Without the crank sensor, the engine control module (ECM) wouldn`t know when to fire the fuel injectors and ignite the spark plugs.
Loss of spark is caused by anything that prevents coil voltage from jumping the electrode gap at the end of the spark plug. This includes worn, fouled or damaged spark plugs, bad plug wires or a cracked distributor cap.
If you do not see a spark, there is an ignition problem. Remove a plug wire and insert an old spark plug or a spark plug tester into the end of the wire (the plug boot). Place the spark plug on a metal surface on the engine, or ground the spark plug tester to the engine. Then crank the engine to check for a spark.

With a poor ground the starter ring return path may not allow adequate amps to return to allow a starter to reach the torque and speed to start. Normally, however, with a well tuned car and cranking, the engine will fire right up. Weakness, though, and it may not start.
When the high voltage produced by the ignition system is applied between the center electrode and ground electrode of the spark plug, the insulation between the electrodes breaks down, current flows in the discharge phenomenon, and an electrical spark is generated.
If the ignition relay shorts, burns out, or otherwise fails while the engine is operating it will cut off power to the fuel pump and ignition system. This will cause the vehicle to immediately stall due to fuel and spark being cut off.
SPARKs have no chance to begin bleeding out if reduced to 0 HP, simply “dying” and when dead, their gear cannot be retrieved. A SPARK`s repair rate is static and unaffected by either Infirmary staffing or Templar base healing bonus, and only one SPARK can be repaired at a time.
If a pressure sensor fails, it can cause the entire control system to fail and lead to inoperable equipment or system down time; depending on the type of system, significant damage can occur to the equipment and surrounding environment.
To reset a sensor, turn the device over and look for the circle on the back labeled “RESET” (See photo below). Insert a paperclip or other thin wire through the label to make a hole, and depress the reset button. You`ll feel it `click` when it is depressed (you should not have to press very hard).

A failed crankshaft positioning sensor can cause your engine tp have no spark. In most modern ICE engines they all use electronic ignition and engine management systems. Theses systems depend on the signal sent from the crankshaft position sensor to determine what cylinder is coming up on top dead center (TDC).
A clogged or failed exhaust gas recirculation or crankcase ventilation valve or faulty oxygen sensor can send the wrong signals to the computer and cause misfires. Misfires could also be caused by an issue with the catalytic converter.

How to change out an electric clutch on a cub cadet zero turn RZT50?
ANSWER : Removal is simple if you have access to an impact wrench so you can the center retaining bolt.
When re-installing anti-seize compound needs to used on the crankshaft so the new clutch assembly doesn’t seize on the shaft. To tighten the center bolt you must hold the flywheel in place by blocking it. This center bolt must be torqued to 45-55 ft fts. Also the new pto clutch needs burnishing in. Most new clutches come with instruction on this procedure.
