Assuming you are talking about a weed *******/grass trimmer, look for an arrow on the spool indicating which direction you should wind the thread. If there is no arrow or it has worn off, turn on the trimmer to see which direction the spool spins. Wind the thread in the direction the spool spins. If it spins clockwise, insert the thread into the hole in the center and begin to wrap the thread around the spool in a clockwise direction, avoiding any major overlaps.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The thread should be coming out from behind towards the left if the spool pin is sticking up, or over the top towards the back if the spool pin is on its side. Unravel a few inches of thread, pull it to the left and wrap it round the front of the little nubbin sticking out on top of your machine.
Welcome, and the unofficial rule-of-thumb is to drill and tap from the side that the Leader points to on the drawing.

I own a Sears Power Washer, model #580.767301 that was assembled for Sears by Briggs & Stratton.
My specific question relates to the THREAD characteristics on the male fitting on the engine of the washer where I connect the female end of the power washer hose. (The other end of the power washer hose is where the wand is connected and out of which the high pressure water comes.)
Because I sometimes have trouble threading the female hose connection onto the male threaded fitting on the engine, I want to THREAD the inside (female) diameter of a short length of pipe so it will mate with the male end of the fitting on the engine. On other end of this same short piece of pipe, I want to THREAD the outside (male) diameter so it will mate with the female end of the hose. That is why I need the THREAD characteristics of the male end of the fitting on the engine which should be the same THREAD characteristics on the female end of the hose. I trust the above makes sense and that you can provide me with the requested information so I can correctly THREAD this short piece of pipe.
My idea is that once I finish threading this short piece of pipe, I can permantly connect it to the male fitting on the engine and not risk ruining the present threads on that fitting when I attach the hose.
thank you for your assistance.

I need a diagram to see how to replace the fuel lines on a Poulan Mod 1950 Chain Saw. I have a large hole in the right top side of the tank with a large tube going from the filter, and small hole on the left side of the top of the tank, that just goes a little over an inch in the tank. I need to know which lines go to the primer, and to the top fitting and lower fitting on the carb. The primer bulb split, and when I took the old one off, the fuel lines came to pieces, and I couldn’t tell what went where.
ANSWER : The large hole in the tank brings a line from the filter to the upper carburetor fitting. The lower carburetor fitting goes to the primer inlet (which is found by plug and try). The short line from the tank goes to the outlet of the primer. With fuel mix in the tank, try one of the ports in the primer with the line from the carburetor. If correct, the primer bulb will fill with fuel–otherwise, try the other primer port and see if fuel will come into the bulb. This may take over 6 pumps if the carburetor is empty of fuel. Did you check the fuel filter for plugging? If it was ok, and with new lines, fuel should pump into the primer provided the carburetor is not plugged itself. If the problem seems to center on the carburetor, be sure to check the diaphragm in the lower chamber for flexibility–no holes or cracks. Also, there is a very small filter screen in the mid-body section that may be plugged. Use spray carburetor cleaner to clean the carburetor inside and out. When you get fuel to come into the bulb, the short line from the tank goes to the empty port. Hope some of this helps!

I cant remove the spool to change the line. it appears to be stuck.
ANSWER : Well there is either a screw knob that must be unscrewed first, or you aren’t removing it correctly. Some just Pull/pop right off. Others must be pushed in and twisted (Like a child proof cap) usually in the opposite direction the line spins. Pull the cord a tiny bit to see which way it spins, then push down/in on the spool (its spring loaded) and twist opposite. Most of today’s trimmers will give you the spool like that. Putting it back on it simply the reverse action.

I need to replace to fuel lines on a Craftman 32cc trimmer. The old ones cracked apart. 2 of the lines look like 1/8″ OD one line looks like 3/32″ OD. Larger line looks like it hooks to filter, Smaller line to a fitting in the gas tank. I am assuming the smaller line ges to the primer inlet. My question is the lines penetrate the bottom of the gas tank. How do they seal. How do I install the filter and the fitting. I am assuming to thread the new lines in from the bottom of the tank and pull through the gas cap hole. Then I attach filter or fitting and pull back through. So do I pull the line so as to create a seal from the swell caused by the fitting/filter?
ANSWER : Depending on the brand of line you use, Tygon line is self sealing but seems to shrink faster then factory supplied because of the ethanol in the gas. The stone gas filter is designed to fall to the lowest part of the tank, not stop the line from falling out.

The Model C 878-62 2-Tier Water Fountain shipped via Garden Treasures to Lowe’s and purchased by me at Lowe’s has the plastic fitting that screws into the metal stand mounted over the small water pump discharge and continues up from the bottom tier to the top tier broken. This fitting has threads screwing into metal stand and joins pipe continuing from the first water level of the fountain to the second water level. The polyethylene fitting has male threads on both ends, but threads are not enterchangeable with standard pipe threads.

My tb425cs leaks gas when it is running. It drips from the bottom of the gas tank.
ANSWER : Be sure to not overfill the tank. Just load it with gas up to the bottom of the neck and be positive you’re not cross-threading the cap when twisting it on. If it only leaks when operating, see if there is fuel bubbling out through the vent(s) in the top of the cap or out from under it. Also wipe the tank clean and dry to be positive it is not leaking from a seam or crack in tank or around fuel lines. If leaking from cap, might have to replace as they do have an internal rubber seal that could have gotten dry or cracked. If it’s from the tank seams or fuel lines replacement may be neccessary of either one or both.

String does not seem to feed automatically frequently have to take the spool out to re thread through the lottle holes
ANSWER : These things can be very sensitive with how the sting is coiled on the spool. Take your time and try to get it perfect. Look at the pre strung replacement spools for an example. also inspect the lever, usually under where the spool sits. Make sure its not to dirty and moves freely. After that when you want it to feed quickly pull and release the trigger a couple times. If you dont want it to feed the when you pull the trigger be sure to maintain how far you have it pulled back, then release it a little slower than usual. Lastly wait a few seconds before pulling again. If this doesnt work the lever may be worn out and defective. But they are super cheap and easy to replace.
