How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The spark plugs recommended by Husqvarna include the Champion RCJ6Y and RCJ7Y and NGK BPMR7A or CMR6A.
Most styles and weights are interchangeable, so you can use non-OEM (original equipment manufacturers) line. However, larger/heavier line may not fit every string trimmer. Replace old trimmer line every spring. It could turn brittle over the cold winter and break more easily.
For light work, such as trimming grass, 0.065″-0.085″ should be sufficient. For thicker grass and weeds, a line in the 0.085″-0.110″ range will get the job done, and for thicker underbrush, anything thicker than 0.110″ will work.
Husqvarna Titanium X-Pro weed trimmer string works with both gas and cordless trimmers requiring a 0.095-inch trimmer line.
Champion Spark Plug (RCJ7Y).
A: Yes it`s mixed 50:1 and can be used in any 2 stroke engine.
095″ diameter trimmer line then yes, this trimmer line would be fine to use.
If we are talking about the length of the line that goes into the trimmer head, anywhere from 10 to 25 feet should be fine. As a general rule, don`t try to add more line to the trimmer`s spool than it can take. If you managed to cut a line longer than that by accident, you can always shorten it later.
Yes, it certainly does. And finding out which trimmer line works best is an essential part of getting the right gear for your company. The shape of the string can change 3 major factors while operating your weed eater.
The string gauge on a guitar is determined by the thickness of the high E string. You can measure the string gauges by using specialised precision measuring equipment such as Micrometers, and Calipers.
Orange Nylon 0.095 inches (2.4mm)
Light-duty line, 65 millimeters to 80 mm, is for grass and thin weeds. Medium-duty line, 85 mm to 105 mm, is for stalky weeds and edging. Heavy-duty line, over 110 mm, is for light brush and small saplings. If you need to cut anything more, consider a blade attachment.
Be sure to use the right spark plug! Although several different spark plugs may screw into the engine, using the incorrect one will result in performance problems and possible internal engine damage.
How 2-Cycle Trimmers Work. A 2-stroke engine cuts the number of strokes in half by combining the compression and ignition on its upstroke while combining the power and exhaust on the downstroke.
Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment? Use the 40:1 mixture.
Spark Plug: CJ8 Fits many petrol hedge timmers, grass trimmers, brush cutters, chain saws, blower vacs etc fitted with a 12mm plug.
The power of corded weed eater comes within the range of 1 – 10 amps. The higher the amps, the more powerful the electric weed eater. For small jobs, consider buying a weed trimmer with 1 – 4 amps. While for very tough weeds, choose a device with 7+ amps.
Line trimmers can only handle a specific range of line sizes (diameter) and it is important to get the right one for your machine. The wrong size of line will invariably slow you down. If you go too thick (i.e. heavy) it will not auto-feed in a bump head and it could cause damage to the machine in extreme cases.
You need to buy a strimmer line based on the amount of cutting required. Using a thin cord for heavy-duty work can hamper your productivity because the line will keep breaking. Many people don`t recognise the difference between light, medium, and heavy growth so there is some trial and error involved.
0.065 inches: Suitable for light-duty tasks such as trimming around flower beds or edging along walkways. 0.080 inches: Good for medium-duty tasks such as trimming around trees or bushes. 0.095 inches: Ideal for heavier-duty tasks such as cutting through thick weeds and tall grass in larger yards.
For the greatest durability, round string is the standard. Combining more material with less surface area, it has a longer wear time. Round string made of reinforced nylon or non-nylon polymer, or string with a hardened core material, will provide greater durability than basic nylon.
Here`s why, over feeding the string will waste a lot of string, if you keep tapping, it keeps coming out, and getting cut by the blade on your trimmer head. You could literally run out of string by just feeding more string too often. Practice feeding, only when you need it.
I suppose I am late to learn that weed eater string should be soaked in water to reduce brittleness, as well as, to prevent it from melting together. Snapping string has got to be one of the world`s major frustrations when trying to finish the task only to have to frequently stop and rewind.
It`s normal for the cutting line to wear down as you use it, but the trimmer line can wear faster than you expect if you`re cutting tough or thick weeds, if you`re cutting against hard surfaces such as rocks and walls, or if the line is spinning too fast.

My weed eater hedge trimmer runs for about 10 minutes and cuts off. It seems as though it is flooded, because it won’t start again until some time later. But it continues with the same pattern. I purchased a can of premixed gas/oil to make sure it was my mixture, to no avail. I have not replaced the spark plug yet, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. Do you have any suggestions?
