I checked the switch and it seems ok. I also ran power direct to PTO clutch and it “clicked”. I suspect there is no power getting to the PTO switch
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
If your engine cranks then fuse is okay. Your do have a relay, seat switch, reverse switch, PTO switch, and the ignition switch that in the circuit for the PTO. Here is the electrical diagram for your mower.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

On a Putzmeister MR 688 series the PTO Pump/Drive switch gets its power from a fuse located in the Mack fuse block.
If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.
The PTO (or power take-off) belt is part of a pulley system that operates the blades on your riding lawn mower. It runs off the electric clutch system in your engine.
To engage the blades, be sure that your throttle or choke is in the rabbit position. Then, push the PTO or blade engage lever forward into the on position.
Powershift PTO engagement problems could be from blocked hoses or fittings, bad connections or ground or the solenoid. Mechanical PTO engagement problems could originate from low air pressure, improper cable installation or back lash too tight.
The PTO is engaged and disengaged using the main transmission clutch and a remote control mechanism which operates on the PTO itself. Typically, an air valve is used to engage the PTO, but a mechanical linkage, electric or hydraulic mechanism are also options.
Belt-the number one cause for your blades not to engage is that your belt is either stretched or loose causing it to slip or fall off completely. Belt could have snapped also. When you are trying to process too much grass/leaves they could pack up under your deck and push off your belt.
The PTO relay then outputs 12V to power the PTO hot shift solenoid provided by the PTO manufacturer. These are the things to check when your PTO is not functioning correctly. Nothing happens when you turn on the PTO button. Make sure you do not have any active faults/a visible check engine or transmission light.
Trip switches are basically fuses; when too much current (AKA load) passes through a given circuit the switch (which are rated e.g. 13 AMP) is `tripped` and the circuit is broken.
Power take-off (PTO) is a device that transfers an engine`s mechanical power to another piece of equipment. A PTO allows the hosting energy source to transmit power to additional equipment that does not have its own engine or motor. For example, a PTO can help run a jackhammer using a tractor`s engine.

I have a cub cadet 2165 I just put in a new battery and it is slow turning over any ideas?
ANSWER : If battery is good and everything is hooked up right. Most likely could be the pto clutch bearing. Not the bearing on the pulley but on the clutch inside. Had the same problem, took the spark plugs out got it free. Turned over easy with plugs out, Started right up after and then burned up my bearing. Don’t burn up bearing. If do field assy. For that is 200$ if you can get away with just that. Otherwise 350-400$ for full assy.
