The Gilson snow blower line launched in 1966. The full sized gear drives continued to evolve through the decade and with the introduction of the Unitrol machines in 1970 Gilson had 2 full size formats that evolved into the 1980s. The small Gilson single stage models were discontinued after the 1970 model year.
The first tractor for which records survive was built in 1889 by the Charter Gas Engine Co, owned by John Charter. His first design used the wheels and transmission from a steam traction engine, powered by a single-cylinder Otto petrol engine.
The John Deere plant in Mannheim, Germany, celebrates production of its 2 millionth tractor. Drive belt 42″ craftsman tractor model #917.270810
You need to post the 917.xxxxxx model number for some one to help you. There are about 10 different belts that fit different 42″ Craftsman mowers.
You could also go to www3,sears.com and put in the same 917.xxxxxx model number and look up the part number. You do not want to buy a belt just by the size alone but must use one that is made for the machine application. The cheaper ones that you pick up in the local hardware store etc. like a 3Lxxx or 4Lxxx are made for low horsepower electric motors and will not last on your lawnmower.
I have a gilson snowthower#5513445752 I dont know the year. I am looking for the manual because I cant get it started. it turns over but dont start
This probably has a B&S L-Head engine. If the engine is manufactured before 1981 then has a point and breaker system that needs to be check. First check and see if you getting any spark on the plug. No spark then ignition system is down. If you are then try a little starter fluid in the carb when cranking. If engine starts and dies then you have carb problems. If you spark and starter fluid does not start engine then a compression problem ie. stuck valve, blown head gasket or stuck rings.
How do i replace the lift shaft assembly on my craftsman lawn tractor? model number 917.272442.
There is not enough space here to describe the replacement procedure. some helpful tips though – order the part you are replacing [ordering from sears tell them: division 71, source 917, part no. 159471] before you tear into it. sitting around for 3 or 4 weeks, you’ll probably forget where things attach. also, find the exploded parts diagram in your owner’s manual and look it over carefully to see what you’re getting yourself into. sometimes, it’s worth a few bucks to let a competent shop do the work
