In 1988, Gilson Brothers Co. was acquired by Lawn-Boy, which was itself acquired by the Toro company in the following year. It was at this point that production of Gilson-branded lawn and snow equipment ceased.

A snow blower is a mechanical device that clears snow from a surface by collecting it and forcibly throwing it to another location. It was invented in Quebec by Arthur Sicard in 1925.
The word “tractor” was first coined by the Hart Parr company. The museum`s Hart Parr #3 is the oldest surviving internal combustion engine tractor. It is currently on display at the Illinois and Indiana Antique Tractor & Gas Engine Club.
Oliver branded lawn tractors were built by Jacobsen. The tractors were only built in 1972 because White Motors consolidated its tractor lines under the White brand in 1973.
The Oliver 145 Garden Tractor was built only one year. in 1972 and was very low production. It was built by. Jacobsen and distributed by Oliver.

Drive belt 42″ craftsman tractor model #917.270810
ANSWER : You need to post the 917.xxxxxx model number for some one to help you. There are about 10 different belts that fit different 42″ Craftsman mowers.
You could also go to www3,sears.com and put in the same 917.xxxxxx model number and look up the part number. You do not want to buy a belt just by the size alone but must use one that is made for the machine application. The cheaper ones that you pick up in the local hardware store etc. like a 3Lxxx or 4Lxxx are made for low horsepower electric motors and will not last on your lawnmower.

I have a gilson snowthower#5513445752 I dont know the year. I am looking for the manual because I cant get it started. it turns over but dont start
ANSWER : This probably has a B&S L-Head engine. If the engine is manufactured before 1981 then has a point and breaker system that needs to be check. First check and see if you getting any spark on the plug. No spark then ignition system is down. If you are then try a little starter fluid in the carb when cranking. If engine starts and dies then you have carb problems. If you spark and starter fluid does not start engine then a compression problem ie. stuck valve, blown head gasket or stuck rings.

ANSWER : There is not enough space here to describe the replacement procedure. some helpful tips though – order the part you are replacing [ordering from sears tell them: division 71, source 917, part no. 159471] before you tear into it. sitting around for 3 or 4 weeks, you’ll probably forget where things attach. also, find the exploded parts diagram in your owner’s manual and look it over carefully to see what you’re getting yourself into. sometimes, it’s worth a few bucks to let a competent shop do the work
