If it turns easy and you hear a lot of knocking it is probably the rod, take out the spark plug, insert a screwdriver in spark plug hole, slowly turn clutch or flywheel and see if piston is going up and down, it will move screwdriver. If it is you may get away with a piston and ring assembly if not it is time for a new saw as the crank and rod assembly will cost you more than the saw is worth unless it is one of their xp models.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

Commonly, engine knocking occurs because of a buildup of oily carbon deposits inside the combustion chamber. This can be caused by burning oil or incomplete combustion from misfires, which coats pistons, cylinder heads, and other parts of your engine with residue.
This can cause severe engine damage. The reason why you are hearing knocking is that the pistons are knocking against the crankshaft walls. If left unrepaired, you will damage the crankshaft and render your engine inoperable.
The most common reasons for your 2 stroke dirt bike making a knocking noise are a worn top-end or worn out crankshaft. This can be caused by normal use and high hours on the engine, but it can also be caused by poor maintenance and user error.
If they do not fire in the proper sequence, you will hear an engine knock. This sound is being caused by too many cylinders firing at once, which happens because the spark plugs are not firing in the correct order. This can also happen in older cars if the plugs are worn or installed in the wrong order.
If you start to notice rod knock, this isn`t a problem that will just resolve itself—you must take immediate action and replace the rod bearing while also fixing any other parts associated with the sound. If you do not take action quickly enough, you might need to replace the engine entirely.
An engine knock can usually be attributed to a detonation problem, which is why the knocks shouldn`t be ignored. Bad engine detonation can cause catastrophic engine failure if the problem is left unchecked. Techway Automotive can inspect your engine and find the cause of your engine knock.

Engine knock isn`t always the easiest car problem to repair. Here are a few of the most common solutions to knocking issues. Timing belt replacement: Most smaller cars, including most four-cylinder sedans, will use a rubber belt to regulate and control your engine`s timing.
The excess oil can create air pockets in the oil, causing it to foam and reducing its effectiveness in lubricating engine components. This results in unusual engine noises, including knocking, tapping, or ticking sounds.

The spontaneous ignition of air/fuel inside the cylinders is a common source of engine knock. While the description of the sound may differ, the circumstances under which it occurs are often the same – low-speed, high-torque conditions common when you`re accelerating.
