If the motor has stopped but is making a humming sound, it is usually a faulty capacitor. For your protection, electric power washers use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) which sometimes trips. In order to reset it, follow the instructions provided in your owner`s manual.
If your pressure washer is refusing to work or even turn on, the culprit could potentially be the power switches. Most pressure washers use two micro switches that disconnect both the live and neutral connections between the supply and the motor. These switches can jam cutting the power out from reaching the motor.
The
Worn Out Carbon Brushes In some circumstances, it will produce a constant humming sound, but the drum of the machine won`t rotate. The most likely explanation for this problem is that the carbon brushes which are located on either side of the main motor have worn out and will need to be replaced.
Carbon brushes in the motor: If you switch on the machine and it makes a humming sound as though it is working but the drum does not turn, then the most common explanation is worn out carbon brushes in the motor. The brushes (located on both sides of the motor) are inexpensive to replace.
If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
Begin isolating the problem by hooking a water hose to the washer`s inlet and turning it on. If water flows out the outlet, you know water is cycling through. If not, chances are your inlet filter is clogged. Remove and clean it, and you should be good to go.
A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the pressure washer for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the engine to run stall.
Is your Karcher Pressure Washer making a humming or buzzing noise when you try to use it? Don`t worry, we`ve got you covered! Chances are, the capacitor has failed and needs to be replaced. But don`t panic, replacing the capacitor is an easy and inexpensive way to extend the life of your pricey power washer.
If your home`s water pressure is too high, it can result in a humming sound within your pipes. The water pressure coming into your home shouldn`t be more than 80 psi. If you think this may be the reason for the humming, contact a qualified plumber to check that that water pressure is at the correct level.

Remove foreign objects from the drain filter The whirring sound heard before spin cycle is the sound of the drain pump. Therefore whirring sound you hear is normal but if the sound gets too loud, you should check the Drain Pump Filter. Take out the drain pump filter and clean it if it`s clogged or covered with dirt.

My Z5426 won’t start. When I pull out the choke and turn the key, gas starts leaking out of the exhaust system just before it gets to the muffler. Last time it did start, it ran really rough. So, I turn off the engine and then tried to restart and that’s when I noticed the fuel leak.
ANSWER : Maybe bad fuel, fuel line leaking, flooding of the carburetor, since it did start and ran rough I am assuming that the gas was left set and more then likely this gummed up the carburetor, you will have to clean/rebuild it. If you have a can of carburetor clean you may be able to spray that into there and clean it up, I would not choke it to start it as it sounds like it got/is flooded/ing. Good Luck Tim
It’s brand new, when I finally get it started it will run good for about 1 min. or less, and then it dies. I pull the choke out all the way, pull it a couple of times, push it half way in, it starts but it’s like it doesn’t have the power to turn the chain, bogging out and then it dies, I will never buy another homelite product, or recommend anyone else to, this is my second one, the first one leaked gas, Home Depot really should quit selling them, there making you look bad too!!
