Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
The backwash valve is not sealing properly. You need to replace the seals or the entire valve. Not knowing what type of valve you have, I can’t tell you more than that.
Try turning the valve into ALL of the operating positions and returning to filter, see if that helps.
Also, if you can easily disassemble the valve, there could be debris in it that you can remove.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The Main Causes of Water Filtration Leaks

With quick-connect fittings, you might find that the tube has not been fully inserted into the fitting, which can cause a leakage problem. Another common issue with quick-connect fittings includes a missing lock sleeve, which can also cause a leak in your system.

if dirt is escaping back into the pool, it could be because the filter is dirty and clogged, which means it needs to be backwashed. When the pressure gauge rises eight to ten pounds per square inch (PSI) above it respective normal operating range, backwashing is necessary.
Turn off the filter`s water supply. Check for any loose or damaged plumbing components and tighten them as needed. Check the filter housing for cracks or other damage, and replace it if necessary. Turn on the filter`s water supply to see if the leak has been fixed.
If the water filter was recently replaced, dripping from the dispenser may occur because air is trapped in the water filter.
Water should only come out of the backwash line (waste outline) when the multiport valve is set to backwash. If you notice pool water flowing out of a backwash hose when the multiport valve is on any other setting but backwash, it`s an indication of a leak.
To begin vacuuming your pool:

If you do have this option, it is highly recommended that whenever you have algae, you will need to vacuum to waste. This option allows you to vacuum the algae up and send it out through the backwash line, avoiding getting algae into your filter sand.

“How often should I backwash my sand filter”? Ensure you do it if there`s an algae outbreak or after a significant storm. A DE( diatomaceous earth)filter system needs cleaning six or more times each year. If you have a sand filter, backwash it every month and tear it down twice every year.
The wells that pump the water from the ground into the delivery system are designed to filter out sand, but some particles make it into the system. These particles typically settle in large water pipes and tanks, but sometimes make it through the faucet.
After each new filter cartridge is installed, run cold water for 5 minutes to flush it.
Can you get sick from a dirty water filter? Yes, you can get sick from a dirty water filter due to the likelihood of bacteria growth inside the filter materials. This shouldn`t be an issue if you replace the filter on time. Most manufacturers offer clear instructions on when you should replace your filters.
Well, first off, no—it`s not normal. During normal operation, your air conditioner/furnace filter should always remain dry. A wet filter is inefficient and spreads moisture throughout your ductwork and home, creating the perfect breeding ground for mildew and mold.
If your car`s air filter gets damp, your engine won`t perform as well because water will take up the space meant for air to pass through. But if you run the engine for long enough, the moisture will not harm your car or engine at all.
Standing water in the filter area

Water in this area is actually perfectly normal, useful even. It`s there to keep the seals from drying up. It drains when a cycle starts and is replaced with fresh water at the end of the cycle.

When you discover a wet air filter, remove the wet filter and dry the area up. Check the drain for debris or algae and make sure the condensate pan isn`t corroded or cracked. Turn your ac off right away, so you don`t spread moisture throughout your home. Then, put in a new fresh air filter.

My intex sand filter is shooting sand into the pool
ANSWER : You have a broken “lateral”. You will have to remove the sand from the filter, find and replace the broken lateral (pipe with slots in it in the bottom of the filter).
