How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Is your Karcher Pressure Washer making a humming or buzzing noise when you try to use it? Don`t worry, we`ve got you covered! Chances are, the capacitor has failed and needs to be replaced. But don`t panic, replacing the capacitor is an easy and inexpensive way to extend the life of your pricey power washer.
If the motor has stopped but is making a humming sound, it is usually a faulty capacitor. For your protection, electric power washers use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) which sometimes trips. In order to reset it, follow the instructions provided in your owner`s manual.
PLEASE NOTE: You should always press the RESET button on the GFCI before using the pressure washer.
You may need to rebuild or replace the pump assembly. If the pump is more than a few years old, and you use the pressure washer fairly often, replace the pump assembly. If the pump is relatively new, and you don`t use the pressure washer often, either rebuild the pump assembly or replace the pump seals.
A very common cause of a humming machine is a jammed up pump. The pump might be trying to rotate, but something is caught in it. In most cases, and probably in all cases, a piece of garment is the cause, unless you don`t use it to wash clothes. You will have to disassemble your machine to remove it.
The two main causes of a persistent humming or buzzing are: a bad audio cable connected to the amplifier, or. there is electrical noise being passed through an audio cable into the amplifier.
Sometimes a piece of loose clothing can get lodged in the washing machine pump. There may not be any actual damage to the pump itself, but the humming noise you hear is because that piece of clothing is preventing the pump from turning.
A buzzing noise from the PowerPoint is one of the indicators that your standard wall switch might malfunction. Popping, sizzling, and crackling sounds when you turn on or off a wall switch indicate that the switch is worn out or defective.
It Can Harm The Unit
Without water to cool and lubricate it, the pump will work harder than it should, causing it to wear down quickly. This can happen even with just a few seconds of running the pressure washer without the water being turned on. However, the pump is not the only part that takes damage.

Engine kills when engaging mower or clutch – Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor – CA Model
There is a switch under your seat that senses if there is someone in the seat…that switch is bad and so it thinks that you are not in the seat and shuts down the motor…
find the switch, which will be underneath the seat and replace it….
Do not bypass it as it is a safety feature…
Riding lawnmower will not start with key. I tried a new key switch and a new solenoid. I checked all safety switches and they checked out OK. I don’t know if the wires for the solenoid are hooked up correctly, because I bought the mower used.
Depend on the make and model of the mower….the safety switches usually are the seat, pto, shift lever, brake and clutch. If any of these are bad…the switch won’t work. Can you cross the starter and have it start? With these safety switches….you can’t just disconnect them to bypass. Most require a loop and running a wire from one side of the switch to the other will usually help you find the one causing the issue. The solenoid comes in about 4 different models. Some ground to the frame and some don’t. Not all key switches are the same either…we stock over 25 different switches and I could show you 7 that look identical but are different.Personally I would start testing from the starter and work my way back…starter, solenoid, safety switches, starter switch. www.nnyparts.com
Kill switch will not stop motor – Husqvarna 350 18 Inch Gas Chainsaw 52CC Fully Assembled Brand New 18"
Check and make sure the wires are plugged into switch. If that don,t work it has a bad switch.
When i let out the clutch it kills – Craftsman 20 hp 42 in. Deck Yard Tractor
Check the safety switch on the pedal bypass it to test it with a paper clip
How do i wire a toggle switch tomy electric clutch orignal switch doesn’t work.
Ther are two wires, one power one ground. The ground wire should be grounded already[confirm with an ohm meter. You need to put a power sorce to the switch and one from it to the pto this will make it work but will make all the safety switches in-operable so it is not a safe thing to do.Your best bet is to replace the swich or the safety switch that is keeping it from working[seat switch or brake switch usually].
I have installed a garden outhouse which has come with a 3kw heater in the roof and has a 3 wire cable hanging from it. I have an RCD external socket to which I’ve connected a 10m re-enforced 3 wire 13amp cable. I now need to connect the two via a switch in the outhouse. I boughtfrom B&Q an IP66 weatherproof outdoor single switch ( grey plastic) which gives instructions about connecting the Live feed and the Switched live feed ( brown wires ) across the switch…. but says nothing about the neutral wires . Do I just connect them through a standard terminal block and link the 2 earth wires in the switch casing
The switch is probably a single pole switch and just switches the incoming live to the output, in your case the live from the RCD to the outgoing live of the heater. The 2 earths can be connected together and 2 neutrals. When you mention the RCD external socket I presume the cable to the outhouse is fitted with a three pin UK plug so check the rating of the I66 switch to ensure it can cope with the 13 amp current which can flow.A double pole switch would be preferable. This provides total isolation and switches off the incoming live and neutral of the cable from the RCD. This is safer because if anyone ever rewired the plug at the RCD and mistakenly reversed live and neutral, a correctly wired single pole switch in the outhouse wouldn’t switch off the live and this would be a hazardous situation, especially since the heater is in an outhouse which could be damp.
Hey i just rewired my ignition switch because the connector from the wire harness to the key switch was melted i rewired everything the way it was before but now the switch doesnt make the starter spin it only clicks took the starter and tested it and it was fine i can touch the 2 bolts on the cylanoid with a screwdriver and it will turn the motor once or twice but the swtch doesnt make it do nuttin but click what could be wrong the fuse is good really need help
You were in the right area, it is a bad solenoid.
When I let the cluth brake out my engine shuts off
Sound like 1 of your safety switches is bad. mower will run with the brake on and your not on it. there should be a seat switch under the seat, there should be a blade engage switch somewhere on the chassis, and there is also a brake switch. trace your wire harness through out the mower and check each switch. you can check the switches by unplugging them and connecting a wire to each terminal in the plug to check each 1. if after you unplug a switch and use the wire and the mower stays running after you release the brake then that switch is bad….you can bypass the switches by leaving the wire connected to the plug.
