Water Stops Moving Through the Filter

If the motor is humming but no water is moving, the motor works but the filter itself has shut down. The way to know if this happened is to see whether the surface of the water in the tank is still. It`s possible that the filter needs to be cleaned out and may work fine afterward.

Aquarium water is passed through a mechanical filter media, and the particles are strained out. To prevent build-up, the filter media must be cleaned regularly. The components of mechanical media are inert – this means that the material this media is made of will do nothing to interfere with your water chemistry.
The most likely cause is that the air pipes of the filter are disconnected or blocked or the air pump has broken down (See Q1). Once the pipes are cleared or reconnected or the pump has been repaired or replaced – the filter will work again and the tank will clear.
The most effective way to determine if your water filter is working properly is to test your water before and after it passes through your filter. Such analysis is called performance testing because it tests the effectiveness of your filter in reducing or removing potentially harmful contaminants that pass through.
If the filter comes with two sponges (recommended,) then one whole sponge can be removed and discarded, and replaced with a brand new one. Enough good bacteria will remain on the old sponge and bacteria levels should remain high enough to prevent any issues.
Generally, fish can survive without a filter for one night. However, don`t leave them without a filter for too long, as this can lead to ammonia poisoning and other health problems.
A fish live without a filter for a maximum of seven days and a minimum of three days. A filter helps clean the water over and over again, so the toxins in it don`t settle down.
One of the main causes of water filter clogs is simply not changing the filter often enough. Over time, the filter becomes filled with contaminants and debris, which can eventually lead to a clog. Depending on the type of water filter you have, it should be changed every few months to ensure that it`s working properly.

I replaced the pull cord on an mtd mower. and now it won’t rewind the cord?
ANSWER : You have to tension the spring before installing the cord. Remove the cord. Put the recoil assembly in a vise. Prepare the ends of the cord so they can be threaded into place. Spin the pulley in the proper direction until it is tight. Align the hole in the housing with the hole in the pulley. Thread the rope in and knot it and pull tight. Slowly let the spring tension retract the rope. Cut the rope to length, install handle, knot and test.

Broken pullcord the pull cord on my cub cadet push mowersnaped and broken and we put it back in and know it wont wind back in
ANSWER : Yeah I got the same problem. My pull cord broke in the first season. On my own once the plastic cover is removed, 4 phillips screws, the cord housing is secured by 3 10mm nuts. Remove them and lift out the housing. On my own unit the spring had also slipped out of the mount on the shaft securing the assembly (another 10mm socket nut will loosen that) and I had to resecure that first, then wind it up before making the knot.. I used a Briggs and Stratton cord from another (truly dead) mower and have had no problems since then.

Pull cord is difficult to pull after third pull becomes stuck but will turn if pull hard repeats every three to four pulls.
