BLACK+DECKER recommends using a high quality bar and chain oil or SAE30 weight motor oil to lubricate the chain and bar on the LP1000 Alligator Lopper. You should use a vegetable-based oil when pruning trees. Never use very thick oil as this may damage your chain saw.
The chain saw should be oiled before each cut. Manual Oiling System: Lubricate the saw chain by pressing the bulb on the oil reservoir cap twice before making each cut.
This means that the viscosity of this oil ranges (5w30) from 5 when it`s cold to 30 when it is hot. This oil is good lubricating for light-duty diesel and petrol engines. So, you can use it as a Chainsaw Bar Oil.
Oregon Bar And Chain Oil is one of the best-selling bar oils. It is made with additives for increased tackiness compared to other brands and high-film strength to prevent corrosion and wear on the saw chain, bar, and sprockets. Plus this oil reduces buildup of tree sap, gum, and resins on saw parts.
Absolutely. 10w40 is thick enough to mostly stay on the chain. Regular bar and chain oil have additives that keep the oil from slinging off the chain. This is why it is always recommended to use regular chain oil.
Naturally, the chain of your chainsaw will need to be oiled well to function perfectly. To make sure that it functions well, grab some WD-40 Multi-Use-Product. WD-40 works great for both – rust prevention and lubrication.
No, hydraulic oil is not safe to use on your chainsaw bar. Chainsaw bars require a special type of oil that is specifically designed to lubricate and protect the bar and chain. Using the wrong type of oil can cause the bar and chain to become clogged and can even lead to corrosion.
Bar and chain oil is stickier than regular motor oil, so it stays on the chain longer. Motor oil flings off the chain more quickly, so if you try Terry`s tip, be prepared to refill the oil on your chain saw more quickly than with regular bar and chain oil.
We saw this question asked on the net and at face value, you could think it`s a silly question to ask as yes, you can use other brands with other brands – while some manufacturers may state to use only their brand with their products, this is just a sales tactic – if it`s the right kind of oil for your chainsaw, you …
NO, outboard two stroke motor oil designed for water cooled engines does not provide the needed protection or lubrication for two stroke air cooled engines.
Any oil will work, even olive oil, except for that flinging at the top sprocket. there is an additive in chainsaw oil that makes it “stringy” and help it hold onto the chain links.

Where are the oiling ponts to the bar to the ryobi 16 inch petrol chainsaw?
ANSWER : HiIt’s Lisa?On an electric chainsaw there usually aren’t what you would call oiling points.Somewhere, probably on the rear or one side of the case will be a bulb. It’s also the screw on cap for the oil reservoir. You fill that up with chainsaw bar oil,and as you use the saw every few minutes push the bulb down 2-3 times and it applies oil to the chain and gear in the case. The chain transfers the oil to the bar.If this helps, would you rate my post please? Thanks BobBy the way,if you give me your model number I can look for a manual somewhere. No promises though,Ryobi likes to sell their manuals rather than download them.
