The engine is serviced with Kohler PRO 10W-50 synthetic oil and a Kohler PRO filter from the factory.

SAE 10W-30 – Varying temperature range, this grade of oil improves cold-weather starting, but may increase oil consumption. Synthetic SAE 5W-30 – Best protection at all temperatures as well as improved starting with less oil consumption. SAE 5W-30 – Very cold temperatures.
Most car engines are designed to handle 5w20 oil because this type of oil flows well when the engine reaches its operating temperature of 212 degrees. If 5w30 oil is used, the engine will encounter much more resistance at this stage which is not good for it.
5W-30 multi grade oil is ideal for private vehicles and light-duty petrol and diesel engines. It also provides a better cold temperature start than 10W-30 oil. On the other hand, the slightly thicker oil,10W-30, provides better lubrication for commercial vehicles and heavy-load engine cars.
There`s not much difference between 10W-30 and 10W-40 motor oil. What sets them apart has more to do with temperature fluctuations and engine load. For moderate weather, either engine oil grades should work fine.
Naji Abou-Haydar has a very good and concise answer, but most SAE 10W-40 oils will work perfectly in an old engine designed for SAE 30. Some old engines makers claim that this will not work, but our experience over many years confirm that there will be no problems.

How to remove clutch kohler 23 hp command series?
ANSWER : Remove the bolt… if it still doesn’t come off the safest way is to put a sacrificial bolt back in and use an air hammer to hit the bolt as the clutch slowly comes off… pb blaster helps a lot

ANSWER : Did you check your gas? Generally a loud popping sound indicates water in the fuel. If there is one carb hitting and one not, the one not hitting may be full of water. Drain the carb bowls. Drain the tank. Clean the spark plugs and try it.

No spark at plugs after replacing coils it has spark advance what do I look for next
ANSWER : Check for the switching pulse at the coil input terminal. It should be less than the battery voltage but not zero, or pulsing in sync with the engine (if you know the spark dwell angle, you can calculate the voltage by multiplying it by the number of cylinders, dividing by 360 degrees, then multiplying by the battery voltage). If you don’t get any indication that the coil is being switched to ground to generate the spark, your distributor contact (for mechanical ignition switches) , magneto or electronic ignition module could be the problem. Before changing whatever one of these you have, double-check the wiring to the coil – a misplaced, broken or loose wire will have the same effect.
