Does the pole saw use oil? Yes, bar and chain oil is required to properly lubricate the cutting system. Oregon Bar and Chain Oil is recommended for the PS250.
Vegetable and plant-based oils like canola oil can be used in place of bar and chain oil, but they will not work well in extremely cold or hot temperatures.
Like 10w30 motor oil, you can use 5w30 oil. However, the thin consistency of this low-viscosity SAE5 weight oil, will not cling to the chain as well in the summer months.
Pro Tip: Lubricate the sliding extendable poles of your tree trimmer as well as the pruner shears, lever arm, and blade with WD-40® Specialist® Dry Lube. The long-lasting corrosion protection does not attract dirt or debris and the formula provides superior lubrication with no oily residue.
Any oil will work, even olive oil, except for that flinging at the top sprocket. there is an additive in chainsaw oil that makes it “stringy” and help it hold onto the chain links.
One final note: This article recommends using vegetable oil to replace chain oil in chainsaws. However, this does NOT mean replacing “mix” oil which is used for the gas mix. For mix oil, you must use the petroleum-based 2-stroke mix oil recommended by the chain saw manufacturer.
Most modern chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers and other small-engine two-stroke equipment recommend a 50:1 oil mix ratio, but some recommend 40:1 and older two-stroke equipment might even call for 32:1.
Unlike gas-powered chainsaws that need fuel mixed with oil, electric chainsaws do not need oil as a fuel component. There is no getting around the fact that you will need oil for your chainsaw whether it`s electric or not.
If you run a chainsaw without bar oil, it`s likely that the chain will heat up and eventually break. This can cause extensive damage to the chainsaw and may even require a new chain and bar. It`s imperative that you use the correct amount of bar oil.
Effective – Vegetable oils have natural properties including good lubricity, resistance to shear, a high flash point, and a high viscosity index. These qualities lend themselves to chain lubricant requirements similar to petroleum-based chain oils, and do not contribute to chain or bar wear over time.
The viscosity of chainsaw bar oil can vary, depending on the formula but 30W is standard. In cold weather, a thin 10W chainsaw oil may be advantageous, while very hot temperatures may require a much thicker 40W or 50W formula.
It`s works just fine, and empties out in parallel with the gas, same as chain oil. I`ve dome some chain saw milling also, and still use the canola oil.
DEWALT Biodegradable Chainsaw Oil is a high-performance biobased formulation that is compatible with all gas and battery operated saws. As a 100% loss application, it is important to use biodegradable chainsaw oil to help reduce environmental pollution.

What kind of oil in the oil tank and how much for the remington electric pole saw ?
Bar & chain oil is the best. You can use regular or synthetic. Some say you can use atf (auto transmission fluid) or sae30 oil. I use bar & chain oil.
16″ Electric Chain Saw: what kind of oil is used for electric chain saw…
I assume you are asking about the oil for the chain. Any good quality “Bar and Chain Oil” will do fine. Do not use motor oil you use in your car engine as it will not properly lube the chain and will result in quicker dulling and early demise of the chain.
You can get the “Bar and Chain Oil” at most hardware stores or Farm Supply stores.
What type of oil does a remington chain saw use?
Regular bar/chain oil available at home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. Hope this helps!
What kind of oil does it use for Remington 16’electric saw.
Use any bar and chain oil. Can be bought at most big-box-stores (Home Depot, Lowes) or stores that sell outdoor power equipment. Don’t use motor oil, you’ll have a mess when you store the saw.
Remington electric Pole Chain saw – what type of oil do I use?
Use regular bar/chain oil available from home centers, hardware stores, and saw shops. Good luck!
Oil leaks out of the remington electric pole saw. The saw is stored/seated upright and I can’t see the problem
Remove the bar and chain, then clean the entire area. Look for leakage at either the small port where the bar fits, or from the motor case itself. Make sure the oil tank vent is open so that pressure doesn’t build up from heat. If the leakage is from the case, then look for a crack in the oil tank, or a defective oil line from the tank to the oil pump. Clean the drive end of the bar oil-channels that go out from the large holes to the chain groove on each side. Clean the entire chain groove. It also may be easier to just dump the oil out of the tank after each use if the chain seems to oiling properly. Hope this helps!
Is 10-30w car oil ??? Okay to use as the Oil on the Chainsaw Bar of a Remington Pole Saw Model 106890-02?
Car engine oil has not got a non fling addative so will just spray off the end of the bar and not lubricate the chain where it does most of its cutting, on the underside of the bar.
What kind of oil do I use ? – Remington Electric Chain Saw
