WWhat setting do you recommend I use for Bayer Advanced 24 Hour Grub Killer Plus and a Scotts® Turf Builder® EdgeGuard® Mini broadcast spreader?

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Place your spreader setting on a low setting (usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less). Spread the material over a 50 x 20-foot area (1,000 square feet). If there is material left over, increase your setting. If you come up short, decrease your setting.
For overseeding an existing lawn, we recommend a sowing rate of 35g per m2, and for sowing a new lawn from scratch we recommend a sowing rate of 50g per m2.
If you are using a drop spreader, such as Scott`s Classic Drop Spreader, and using a Yard Mastery granular fertilizer, you will want to set your spreader at a 7.
What setting do I use on a rotary spreader to apply Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15? You would apply the Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 at a rate of 4 lbs per 1,000 square feet.
Spreading height

The spreader should be 75cm over the crop. This should be adjusted as the growing season moves on. For example, the spreader should be 75cm over a crop of grass or an emerging crop of spring barley; it should also be 75cm above a wheat crop at GS30.

If you want to use a manual process to find out the best estimate for your spreader setting, a good starting point is to consider the following: 1 lb per 1,000 sq ft = 43.6 lbs per acre. 100 lbs per acre = 2.5 lbs per 1,000 square feet.
A spreader setting is the rate in which you apply product to your lawn. Each Jonathan Green product has recommended rates of application and coverage based on bag size. The application rate is defined as the amount of material applied per unit area of land.
For more substantial areas—up to 15,000 square feet—the Scotts® Turf Builder® Edgeguard® DLX Broadcast Spreader, with its large hopper, is ideal. If you`re lucky enough to have an extra large lawn, use the Scotts® Elite Spreader. The hopper can hold enough product to cover 20,000 square feet.
15-15-30 water soluble garden fertilizer. Water soluble • Ideal for vegetable garden, tomatoes, herbs and fruit plants • Promotes healthy plants and an abundant harvest • Promotes resistance of vegetable plants to diseases and strengthens the stems • Accelerates ripening fruits and vegetables.
15-30-15 can be used to remedy phosphorus deficient soils. Plant-Prod 15-30-15 High P fertilizer is recommended at the beginning of growth, as required by many greenhouse crops, in particular by tomatoes and cucumber grown in open ground.
A well-fed lawn is healthier, which means it has a better root system to combat heat, cold, drought, mowing, foot traffic, and other stresses. While feeding your lawn once a year will improve its condition, feeding it 4 times a year will make it even healthier and more beautiful.
The recommended spreader setting for Pennington All Purpose Fertilizer 19-19-19 is based upon the amount of nitrogen in the bag. The bag will cover 9500 sq. ft. so you will need approximately 9.
The numbers stand for an application rate. A bag of commercial fertilizer will usually have numbers for where to set either broadcast or drop spreaders to get the recommended amount of fertilizer laid down. The numbers on the bag may be different for various brands of spreaders.

I just bought a new Scott’s “Classic Drop” Spreader. I owned a Scott’s drop spreader before and the recommended settings on Scott’s fertilizer bags always worked great.

On Scott’s Turfbuilder fertilizer for Spring (yellow on bag) it recommends one setting for drop spreaders which was 5 3/4.

I drained an entire 14 lb bag with that setting before I was even 1/4 done with my lawn. Usually I can do my whole lawn and have some left over. I even returned the spreader to Home Depot and got another one and another bag of fertilizer and the same thing occured. I adjusted it down to 3 after a bit and still used the entire other 14 lb bag.

ANSWER : I am sorry that neither spreader performed as they should have. This is very concerning to us, and we would like to get more information about the spreaders, if you still have 1 the manufacture date would be most helpful to us. It sounds like you could possibly have an over-application of the product as well. If you could call us at 1-800-543-8873, we would be happy to discuss this with you. Stacey at Scotts.
