Per the product label, at minimum you should set your spreader at 3 for 1 lb per 1,000 square feet.
The setting that you will use when applying Bifen Granules with a Scotts Edgeguard DLX is a 2 or a 3 depending on how quickly you walk.
Place your spreader setting on a low setting (usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less). Spread the material over a 50 x 20-foot area (1,000 square feet). If there is material left over, increase your setting. If you come up short, decrease your setting.
So here are the general rules: For fertilizers put the setting a notch or two above half. For example, if there are 20 notches on the spreader, 11-12 would be the setting. You don`t have to cover every square inch of turf to get good results, so if you think that`s too much, drop to a notch below half.
In general, the smaller you set your spreader setting the smaller the hole and the slower the material releases from the hopper. There are many different brands of spreaders on the market, and, new or old, it is highly recommended to properly calibrate your spreader before the first use in the spring.
ft. or 8 lbs per 1000 sq ft. using a rotary type spreader.
Ants are less active during cold and hot periods (when soil temperature is less than 70 degrees F or greater than 95 degrees F). In the summer, apply bait in late afternoon or evening when ants are most active. Baits can be applied by hand if you use protective gloves.
In general, ants tend to forage when it`s warm out. If you`re applying insecticide in summer, you should do so in the late afternoon or early evening. If you`re putting insecticide on mounds or in other problem areas in spring or fall, you should do so in the morning when it`s cool and dry.
