To spread Soil Doctor brand pelletized lime, set a broadcast spreader to two-thirds open, or a drop spreader to one-third open, or equivalent.
Next, using a drop or rotary spreader (never lay down lime by hand), apply the limestone to your lawn. Apply half while walking over your lawn in one direction, then apply the other half in a direction that is perpendicular to your first. This will ensure that every part of your lawn is covered with lime.
Generally, only apply 50 lbs of lime per 1,000 sqft of lawn or less during the initial application. If you need more than 50 lbs to fully treat the soil, then apply the lime in two applications. First in early spring, then the next fall or winter. Check your lawn`s soil pH every 1-2 years.
Lime Nourishes Essential Bacteria
Since it can take two years for lime to move 2 inches into your soil, avoid over liming by applying lime only every three to five years.
The setting that you will use when applying Bifen Granules with a Scotts Edgeguard DLX is a 2 or a 3 depending on how quickly you walk.

Place your spreader setting on a low setting (usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less). Spread the material over a 50 x 20-foot area (1,000 square feet). If there is material left over, increase your setting. If you come up short, decrease your setting.
When EdgeGuard™ is engaged, it will block off the right-side of the spreader pattern to prevent product from spreading onto non-lawn areas.
