Stihl

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
You need to know three things about your saw as to what chain will interchange….1. Pitch of the chain. 2. Guage of the guide bar. 3. Number of chain links.

Your little 025 Stihl wil probably have an .050 guage and a .325 pitch. The standard guages for small saws are .043, .050 with .058 and .063 being reserved typically for the larger displacement saws.

The pitch is the length of three links, divided by two and the number of links is kinda self-explanatory. (The 025 USUALLY is set up for the .325 pitch.)

Any chain that matches the three measurements for your respective saw should interchange. Hope this helped instead of adding to the confustion……

Mixing brands of chains is no problem, provided you use compatible chains. I`m no longer able to buy “original” chains for my old Homelite so I buy it off the roll at the local mower/chainsaw dealer, who also joins it up for me.

Husqvarna uses as a standard driver width . 058 and Stihl uses . 063, so the Stihl chain won`t fit into the Husqvarna bar groove. There are other options and driver sizes, but again we won`t discuss that here for the purpose of keeping this instructable simple and not confusing.

If you change the bar, you must also change the chain. The chain needs to fit precisely onto the bar in two ways. First, it must be exactly the right diameter to fit snugly around the bar and sprocket. Second, the drive links, on the inner ring of the chain, must fit exactly in between the guide slots on the new bar.
No. Not all makes and models of bike chains fit on all bikes. Most modern bike chains are made to the one-half inch pitch, but this dosn`t mean all chains fit all bikes. In order to be as effective as possible, a chain must be suited to the type of bicycle being ridden.
The Stihl company manufactured the Stihl 025, which was produced for over ten years (from 1991 to 2002) until it was replaced by the MS250. The Stihl 025 is a versatile chainsaw that can occasionally be used.

The Stihl 025 has a 45-cc engine with 3 horsepower. Newer chainsaws that are comparable to the Stihl 025 are often lighter, but fans of the Stihl 025 don`t seem to mind the 10.3 pounds powerhead weight.
