Do not just buy a belt that is “close” to your size belt. the size of the belt is not always a standard size, there is a width as well as a length and also a power rating , that is critical in belt replacement. you must have the model number of the Mower unit “not the engine model” to get the correct belt. OEM belts are made to certain specifications to withstand certain actions of the mower and the wrong size belt could result in a dangerous situation of the blade not stopping or engaging sporadically, or if it is a transmission belt , the mower may not go forward or not stop moving which again is dangerous.

The drive belt on a Craftsman riding mower is usually around 104 inches long. It is designed to be durable and long-lasting, able to withstand the rigors of mowing.

I’m having trouble replaceing the motion drive belt on my LT1000 lawn tractor. The mowing deck is off, the old drive belt is off. I can’t get the belt around the transaxle pully. Any suggestions?
ANSWER : Often there is a keeper on the back of the pulley, and the belt must go inside the keeper. Get an inspection mirror up in there to look if necessary. Start by putting the belt on the transaxle pulley, then on the PTO pulley, then on the idler, last have someone sit on the mower and depress the clutch pedal while you put the belt over that pulley.

Do they make a wheel kit for the deck on a LT1000?
ANSWER : These mowers are all made by just one or two companies. If you go to Lowe’s, and root around in the mower area; you will find they have two sets of generic wheel kits which seem to fit most all decks. You can pay more at a dealer or small engine shop.

ANSWER : I do not have a diagram,but I do know where it goes.Look at the tension pulley.The arm it is mounted on move.That arm is where the spring belongs.First move the arm with your hand.pull it so that the blades are not engaged.Now the side of the arm away from the pulley and closest to the rear of the mower,is where the spring goes.There may be several holes,do not pull the spring too much,just get it in one of those holes.Then try the blades.If they do not engage,move the spring,to another hole.
