Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
It depends on the make but sthil now have a oil that is suitable for all mix ratios up to 50:1
you can start at 20:1 and run the engine
if the exhaust is very smoky , change it to 40:1 and again check the smoke
50: 1 is thinnest oil ration for all engines
The ratio is correct when you can just see smoke when at revs
you can always google and type in— oil/fuel ratio for ( make ) chainsaw model csp3314—or possible look at the filler cap as the ratio is commonly printed in the plastic cap

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Most modern chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers and other small-engine two-stroke equipment recommend a 50:1 oil mix ratio, but some recommend 40:1 and older two-stroke equipment might even call for 32:1.
Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment?
For a mixing ratio of 1 : 50 you need 5 litres of petrol and 0.10 litres (100cm³) of STIHL two-stroke oil.
You can do that but I wouldn`t 40 to 1 means 40 parts of gas one part of oil. 50 to1 means 50 parts of gas to 1 part of oil. So the 40 to 1 mixture is more oily and provides better lubrication for your piston rings.
Modern gasoline chainsaws run at 50:1 mixture, 50 parts gasoline to 1 part oil. Older chainsaws can require 16:1 mixtures or 32:1 (most common). Two-stroke engines are much more efficient now, as well as having cleaner combustion. At most automotive stores, pre-mix fuel can be bought in 50:1 and 40:1 mixtures.
Mixing ratios

For a mixing ratio of 50:1 you need 5 litres of petrol and 0.10 litres of STIHL two-stroke oil.

100:1 – Mix 50ml of oil per 5ltrs of fuel.

Recommended by Yamaha and Suzuki for most of their small two stroke engines up to about 30hp, this ratio requires the least amount of TCW3 two stroke oil. The result of using this ratio (less oil) is reduced spark plug fouling and less smoke.

1:25 = 1 part oil + 25 parts petrol, or 40 ml oil per litre of petrol when using other brands of oil. Any two-stroke engine oil you use in your petrol gardening tool must have the TC classification.

Need a chain for 14in electric poulan chain saw the normal 14 in chain does not list the electric saw as one it will fit
ANSWER : Hello Jennifer;
The number of drive links, pitch and gauge of the chain need to be determined to answer your question. If you take your saw or just the chain to a local chain saw outlet a new chain can be fabricated in a very few minutes. This will save shipping and handling fees as well. While there get the numbers mentioned above. Once you have these you can likely find a low kickback chain in a local home center the next time the chain needs replacement.
The FAQs here can likely answer all your questions.
