Chainsaw bar oil is an important part of the chainsaw operation. It lubricates the chain and keeps it from overheating, so it`s important to use the correct amount of bar oil. So how much bar oil should a chainsaw use? Most chainsaws are designed to use up a full tank of bar and chain oil for every full tank of gas.
Bar and Chain Oilers: The Basics
Your saw`s bar and chain oil mechanism includes the oil reservoir, which can be seen through a window on the side of the saw`s body, and a pump inside the saw that works in tandem with the crankshaft gear to release chain oil any time the saw`s running.
Bar and chain oil is stickier than regular motor oil, so it stays on the chain longer. Motor oil flings off the chain more quickly, so if you try Terry`s tip, be prepared to refill the oil on your chain saw more quickly than with regular bar and chain oil.
Why use oil? You want lubrication of the actual chain against the bar. You don`t want to chain to burn – which is what might happen if there`s too much friction. Without oil, it causes frictional force on the motor in the chainsaw as well.
Yes, electric chainsaws require oil to lubricate the chain.
Although the motor does not require gas or any fuel additive, the chain will require `bar and chain` oil.
Vegetable and plant-based oils like canola oil can be used in place of bar and chain oil, but they will not work well in extremely cold or hot temperatures.
Naturally, the chain of your chainsaw will need to be oiled well to function perfectly. To make sure that it functions well, grab some WD-40 Multi-Use-Product. WD-40 works great for both – rust prevention and lubrication.
NO, outboard two stroke motor oil designed for water cooled engines does not provide the needed protection or lubrication for two stroke air cooled engines.
Effective – Vegetable oils have natural properties including good lubricity, resistance to shear, a high flash point, and a high viscosity index. These qualities lend themselves to chain lubricant requirements similar to petroleum-based chain oils, and do not contribute to chain or bar wear over time.

16″ Electric Chain Saw: what kind of oil is used for electric chain saw…
ANSWER : I assume you are asking about the oil for the chain. Any good quality “Bar and Chain Oil” will do fine. Do not use motor oil you use in your car engine as it will not properly lube the chain and will result in quicker dulling and early demise of the chain.
You can get the “Bar and Chain Oil” at most hardware stores or Farm Supply stores.
What kind of oil does it use for Remington 16’electric saw.
ANSWER : Use any bar and chain oil. Can be bought at most big-box-stores (Home Depot, Lowes) or stores that sell outdoor power equipment. Don’t use motor oil, you’ll have a mess when you store the saw.
Oil leaks out of the remington electric pole saw. The saw is stored/seated upright and I can’t see the problem
ANSWER : Remove the bar and chain, then clean the entire area. Look for leakage at either the small port where the bar fits, or from the motor case itself. Make sure the oil tank vent is open so that pressure doesn’t build up from heat. If the leakage is from the case, then look for a crack in the oil tank, or a defective oil line from the tank to the oil pump. Clean the drive end of the bar oil-channels that go out from the large holes to the chain groove on each side. Clean the entire chain groove. It also may be easier to just dump the oil out of the tank after each use if the chain seems to oiling properly. Hope this helps!

ANSWER : Car engine oil has not got a non fling addative so will just spray off the end of the bar and not lubricate the chain where it does most of its cutting, on the underside of the bar.
