40 to 1 ratio
This equals 25mls of two stroke oil to 1 litre of petrol.
Different equipment manufacturers recommend different oil mix ratios, complicating matters. Most modern chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers and other small-engine two-stroke equipment recommend a 50:1 oil mix ratio, but some recommend 40:1 and older two-stroke equipment might even call for 32:1.
Step 1: You`ll need STIHL 2-Stroke oil, an empty and clean fuel can and fresh unleaded fuel from a reputable petrol station. Step 2: Mix at 50:1 (20mls oil per 1L fuel) when you`re using STIHL 2-Stroke oil. If you`re mixing a larger quantity, check out our useful mixing chart.
STP Universal 2-Cycle 40:1 is a general-purpose 2-Cycle oil formulated with premium base stocks for applications such as chain saws, weed-cutters, string trimmers, air-blowers, and lawn mowers that mixes easily with gasoline and should be used in a fuel to oil ratio specified by the equipment manufacturer.
What happens if the mixing ratios in a 2 stroke engine are incorrect? If you put too much oil, it can generate additional carbon build-up, making it difficult to start the engine, blow excessive smoke which is particularly bad for the environment and may (with time) cause the engine to stop operating correctly.
What is the ratio for 2-stroke fuel mix? Most modern petrol garden machinery requires a 50:1 ratio mix of petrol to oil. This means for every 1 litre of petrol you must mix 20ml of oil.
Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil.
The fuel ratio is defined by the following equation: (1.1)Fuel ratio=Fixed carbon (%)/Volatile matter (%).
50 to1 means 50 parts of gas to 1 part of oil. So the 40 to 1 mixture is more oily and provides better lubrication for your piston rings. The downside is it will foul out your spark plug sooner, but that`s no big deal because it`s simple to pull the plug out and clean it and stick it back in.
