Nothing will do this…what is most likely the problem is either the recoil is going bad or you have the wrong spark plug installed.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The problem may be in the recoil starter itself. A tangled coil of rope or a broken spring may be the problem. In many cases the recoil starter is easily replaced as a single assembly. DO NOT attempt do take the starter apart.
Blade obstruction occurs when something is blocking or stopping the blade from moving and makes your pull cord hard to pull. This issue commonly occurs when there is small debris lodged between the blade and the mower deck or when you are starting your lawn mower in the yard.
When your trimmer starts and runs on choke, it could be because the check valve in the gas cap is clogged. Start the trimmer and gently unscrew the gas cap halfway off. Turn the choke off and assess. If the engine is still running, that means the gas cap may be the culprit.
Tangled trimmer line often results from allowing too much line out of the trimmer`s head at one time. Keep the nylon line slightly shorter than the protective shield that covers the line as the line spins.
Common Signs of a Bad Starter

The engine won`t turn over. The most common signal that your starter has a problem is if nothing happens when you turn the key or push to start. Unusual noises, such as clinking, grinding and whirring. If you ignore these sounds, it can eventually lead to damage to the engine flywheel.

Battery issues – such as low voltage, or poor connection. Cable connections are corroded or broken. Excessive oil or paint on the starter mounting surface (in which case it might just need a good clean) Incorrectly wired or faulty neutral safety switch.
If a motorcycle or ATV only runs with the choke on, it`s because the richer “choke on” mixture is actually closer to the engine`s normal operating fuel mixture than the leaner “choke off” mixture. So when the choke is turned off, the engine gets too little fuel and too much air for it to run and it stalls.
A choke valve/cable is designed to restrict the flow of air in the carburettor of an engine. This helps enrich the fuel-air mixture, improving the ability to start an engine in low temperature conditions.
There are a few possible reasons in which a string trimmer will excessively feed line. The incorrect type or size of line may be installed. Check the Operator`s Manual to verify that the correct trimmer line size for the model trimmer in question is being used. The indexing teeth, inside the inner reel, may be worn.
If a mechanic has diagnosed your engine as seized, unfortunately, there are few options readily available to you. Depending on the severity of the damage, most mechanics will suggest a complete replacement rather than attempt a repair.
What is a Seized Engine? An engine seizes up due to mechanical failure, usually associated with oil starvation. When an engine runs out of oil or the oil isn`t circulating as it should, internal metal parts rub against each other, creating enormous amounts of heat from the friction.
Temporarily Fixing Your Starter

If you turn the key and the engine does not try to turn over and instead is silent, you can sometimes make it start one more time by taking a regular hammer and gently tapping on the side of the starter towards the rear, while someone else is holding the key in the “start” position.

PROBLEMS STARTING YOUR CAR

If one or more of the flywheel`s teeth are damaged or broken, then the wheel can`t engage with the starter motor. You might need to try a few times to get your car to start, or it might not start at all.

If there is a fault with the internal windings of the starter motor, bad brushes, or other electrical faults, the starter motor may lack the torque to crank the engine. There could also be mechanical issues, like bad bearings inside the starter, or teeth no longer meshing in the starter or ring gear.
Use Carburetor Cleaner

Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.

Worn piston rings can cause incomplete sealing, resulting in lower compression and more difficulty in starting. Worn piston rings or reed valves that are no longer sealing properly may be the cause of the poor startability characteristic.
Fuel Vein Blockage

Eventually the blockage can cause a complete stoppage of fuel going into the engine, therefore causing it bog down and stop. If you suspect you have a blockage, the best cause of action is to strip down the carburettor and blow down the fuel veins with an air line or air blower.

Check the following: Clogged muffler, clogged exhaust port, fuel restrictions, low compression, poor ignition spark, too much oil in gas or improper air/fuel mixture in carburetor. . Clean carburetor jets and air filter. Check clutch gear wheel for worn or greasy clutch pads.
Why Does Your Lawn Mower Only Run With Choke On? Your lawn mower only runs with choke on because of a problem with the engine fuel-air mixture system, which can be caused by the carburetor, bad fuel, or air leaks. The choke compels more fuel in the combustion chamber to help the engine to turn over when cold.
It will not damage the engine at all. All that will happen is that it will run richer, thus using more fuel. If you did it for thousands of miles you`d probably end up with more deposits in the engine/exhaust, but even that is easy to sort.
Turn on the ignition of your car. Once the engine is warm, you can remove the air filter and check whether the choke is open or closed. At this point, the choke should be open to allow the engine to breathe fully.
Use 3 in 1 oil or SAE20 engine oil to lubricate the blades of a hedge trimmer. Any grade engine oil will work well. Give them an oiling every 30 minutes or use, before, and after use. I use a machine oil applicator, but a paintbrush or oil-covered rag would do the job too.
Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment? Use the 40:1 mixture.
STIHL TIP: Soak your trimmer line in water for 24 hours before re-spooling your trimmer to keep it flexible!

When I pull the recoil rope it seems to have lost compression and won’t start. Pulls easier but with no compression behind each pull. Any ideas?
ANSWER : Have you checked the compression? A lot of  two stroke cycle engines are running less lube due to emission which results in far more wear. Sometimes people don’t realize that oil has to bve added to the gasoline.thus wearing the engine to the no compression state.

I start twice (when I pull starter rope) then the rope won’t go back
can I know what happen
ANSWER : Your starter/recoil unit has malfunctioned. Disassembly/inspection down to the point where you can get the recoil off will be required. Remove the engine cover screws. The recoil unit may be part of the cover or may be under it. You will easily be able to access it. Replacement parts for your mower are readily available.

MANTIS TILLER WITH HONDA GX25 ENGINE STARTS FINE BUT WHEN GIVEN THROTTLE DIES OUT. ALSO A LITTLE WHILE BACK OIL WAS COMING OUT OF CARB BUT THIS HAS NOW STOPPED. THIS IS A 4 STROKE ENGINE WITH APPROX 4 HOURS USE.

E.MAIL. [email protected]

ANSWER : I
also have Mantis tiller for 2 years. From the very beginning I had
a problems. I was referred by Mantis to the repair store and was charged $90.00
for oil drainage. The second time I was waiting for handle replacement for ~ 1
month. This tiller can’t handle even little jobs and the warranty doesn’t worth
a dime. Maybe I will be more successful using it in my living room . I have an
equipment with Briggs and
Stratton engines and I never had a problem.

To me Mantis mean big advertisement and waste of money.
