Garden

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
When we built our greenhouse, it was important to build it on a cement slab. People try to go without an slab and then it settles. We bought a good greenhouse from http://cookingfirewood.com and it is working well. My husband wanted to skip the slab but i talked him into it. Make sure you have a good foundation or you’ll always have problems

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

You`ll need lumber, hardware and covering materials for a greenhouse made out of wood. Rental trucks are available to help you transport your tools and supplies. Consider your climate before you choose the materials for your greenhouse. Wood is a good choice for a warm, dry climate.
As mentioned, the most critical part of the greenhouse is the cover. It is otherwise known as the “glazing” most greenhouses use specialized plastic coverings that allow maximum light into the structure.
The main greenhouse gases whose concentrations are rising are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and ozone in the lower atmosphere.
With the right cladding, greenhouse growers can provide crops with an optimal level of light transmission and diffusion, blocking harmful UV rays and promoting superior plant growth. Additionally, greenhouses make it easier to improve plant life and eliminate common issues, like pests and diseases.
Generally speaking, there are three types of greenhouses: lean-to, detached, and ridge and furrow or gutter connected (Figure 1). Few lean-to greenhouses are used for commercial production because of limitations in size.
The Basic Principle of the Greenhouse Function

At the heart of the functioning of the greenhouse lies simple principles of physics – thermal radiation and heat exchange. The greenhouse collects the incoming heat from the outside, turns it into heat, and keeps the warm air.

Greenhouse gases act similarly to the glass in a greenhouse: they absorb the sun`s heat that radiates from the Earth`s surface, trap it in the atmosphere and prevent it from escaping into space. The greenhouse effect keeps the Earth`s temperature warmer than it would otherwise be, supporting life on Earth.
The greenhouse effect is the way in which heat is trapped close to Earth`s surface by “greenhouse gases.” These heat-trapping gases can be thought of as a blanket wrapped around Earth, keeping the planet toastier than it would be without them.
