How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Causes of Car Popping Sounds

Spark plugs that are worn or corroded. Defective spark plug wires. Clogged fuel filter. Internal ignition wiring or related ignition issue.

The outer joints pivot, allowing the front wheels to turn. When outer CV joints become worn, they can make a clicking, popping, or snapping sound, especially when the vehicle is cornering and accelerating. Another reason a car can make a popping noise when turning is because of a damaged tie rod.
Smoke often leaves car engines as a result of overheating. This can be caused by faulty wire casings, heated residues on the engine block and overheated liquids including oil, transmission fluid and brake fluid. There may also be a fault in your coolant system, or your engine may not have enough lubricant.
If there is too much oil in the mixture, it can cause excessive smoke in the exhaust, oil leaking from the filter and loss of power. Too little oil allows the piston and cylinder to become hot and destroys the engine. You must first remove the old fuel and oil mixture to replace it with the correct ratio.
A backfire is caused by a combustion or explosion that occurs when unburnt fuel in the exhaust system is ignited, even if there is no flame in the exhaust pipe itself. Sometimes a flame can be seen when a car backfires, but mostly you will only hear a loud popping noise, followed by loss of power and forward motion.
Pop and bang tuning has certainly gained a poor reputation. But social acceptance aside, is it true pops and bangs tuning can damage your engine? The short answer is yes! The excess fuel added to cause the anti-lag and pops is not at all good for the longevity of an engine.
Engine Misfire

If there is too much fuel in some cylinders and not enough in others, the spark plug on some will fire while another cylinder is still combusting gas. The resulting sound will be like a popping noise.

A worn motor mount, control arm, or axle can all cause these sorts of symptoms. It may also be possible that the noise is related to the engine itself, however a close inspection would be required to determine if this might be the case.
The rubber that goes over the coil and the spark plug split and is causing a popcorn sound. The coil is not designed to hold the spark plug in the cylinder head. Take a look at the spark plug threads in the cylinder head, they must be damaged. There are spark plug hole thread repair kits available for these engines.
Block off the fresh air injection systems. This will reduce the air being fed into the exhaust, causing the higher exhaust temperatures and detonation. 2. Adjustment to the fuel table in the zero percent fuel column from 2,000 rpm to redline, may also be needed to help reduce popping.
Poor Engine Performance

After the engine finally begins to start, it may tend to die out immediately if something is wrong with its spark plug. In some cases, the engine may run for a while then stop while mowing. Each time the engine dies, it must be restarted, which usually proves more difficult as the engine warms.

The gas should be 87 octane with no more than 10 percent alcohol. The oil must be formulated for two-cycle engines. Don`t use automobile motor oil because it contains noncombustible additives that will foul the engine.

Your car engine uses multiple valve lifters to open and close the engine valves. However, these valve lifters may wear out with constant use and time. And when they do, the lifter creates a metal-on-metal clicking noise, often known as a `lifter tick.
Another possible cause of your backfire is a spark plug refusing to “spark” when the exhaust valve opens. If the air/fuel mixture has become too rich, unburned fuel is left in the exhaust system. The misfired spark plug ignites the rich air/fuel mixture, causing a loud “bang” in the tail pipe.
An engine backfire occurs whenever the air-fuel mixture in your car combusts somewhere outside the engine`s cylinders. This can cause damage to your car`s exhaust or intake if left unchecked — and it also means that your car`s engine isn`t making as much power as it should, and is wasting lots of fuel.
Overrun Crackles – Pop and Bang Tuning

Pops and Bangs, or Crackles as the OEM call it (yes, it`s that common on production cars that even the manufacturers have a name for it!), is simply a calibration feature within the ECU where we set up a specifically targeted, very lean misfire once you lift off the throttle.

Low oil pressure might be the cause of those ticking sounds. When vital engine components don`t get adequate lubrication, it might cause other problems, and the engine starts to make these noises. A broken valve train component, such as lifters or cam followers, can also cause ticking, tapping, or clicking sounds.

One of the most common causes of a sputtering engine is an issue with the vehicle`s fuel system—the filter, pump, and injectors. These three critical components work together to ensure fuel flows smoothly from the fuel tank to your engine`s fuel injectors, and then pumps into the engine evenly.

My weed eater hedge trimmer runs for about 10 minutes and cuts off. It seems as though it is flooded, because it won’t start again until some time later. But it continues with the same pattern. I purchased a can of premixed gas/oil to make sure it was my mixture, to no avail. I have not replaced the spark plug yet, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. Do you have any suggestions?
ANSWER : The plug can be the problem but also the air mix as well get the best plug you can

STRING KEEPS BREAKING ON A TROY BILT WEED EATER TB539E
ANSWER : Take a look at the hole in the spool where the business end of the string comes through. There should be a smooth metal grommet or smooth short tube there. If the metal is missing, then the string is breaking because it rubs against plastic and heats up very quickly. Or the tube or grommet might have a rough or sharp spot. You might be able to polish it up with a Dremmel type of tool.
