How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The leak is caused by the filter screen in the clear adapter protruding too far into the threaded section which doesn`t allow a water tight connection on the water inlet. The fix: Make sure the clear adapter is attached to the water inlet and NOT the blue/black adapter. To confirm the clear adapter is the problem.
The majority of leaking quick-connect fitting leaks are caused by a damaged O-ring, improper installation, eroded tubing, or too much torque placed on the tubing. Quick-connect fittings have a simple but powerful design.
If your sprayer is leaking water it is likely that there is a broken seal or gasket near the source of the leak. As water passes from the tank, through the pump and into the wand, it passes through a series of connections that are all sealed by gaskets or o-rings.
If water is leaking from the supply hose, you may need to replace the gaskets. Check the connection between any extension hose and the drain hose of your washing machine. All connections must be secure. Check the clamp to see if it has come loose over time.
The water pressure is too high.

When a soap drawer leaks on a front-load washer, it will almost invariably be for one of two reasons: Either the incoming water pressure is too high, causing water to spill over the top, or something is blocking the flow of water.

In most cases, the leak will be caused by a loose or punctured drain hose, a fault with the drain pump, or a worn-out tub-to-pump hose. If it is possible to run the washer without causing further damage, removing the access panel and then running the washer will allow you to observe where the leak is coming from.
Gas Pressure Washer: Why does water spray out of my pressure washer`s pressure relief valve? If the pressure washer runs for more than 5 minutes when the spray wand isn`t in use, the water in the pump often overheats, causing the thermal relief valve to open and discharge hot water onto the ground.
If you notice water dripping into your washer even though it`s turned off, you may have an issue with the washer inlet valve. It allows the water to flow into the tub. Check the valve on the back of the machine to find out if it`s leaking.
Leaks when not in use

One is the fill hose at the back, which most people leave under pressure because they don`t turn off the tap when finished. Carefully pull the washer out and see if there is a small drip from anywhere on the hose especially where it screws onto the water valve.

Water leaks at base of high pressure spray hose. How can I remove the hose?
ANSWER : Slip joint pliers work well, check screen when removed. Vise grips may be required to remove hose connection.

I have a Northstar pressure washer powered by a honda GC160 engine. The last time i used it, water leaks from the bottom of the unit, whether it is running or not. When running, the pressure is fine. I have felt underneath and it appears that the water is coming from the second opening from the rear. Is there a pressure relief valve there. I have a manual but cannot find any descriptors for underneath the motor.
ANSWER : This is a piston seal issue. You can get a kit to rebuild the pump.

Soap feed The soap feed hose on my Karcher 2650 does not suck up the soap into the washer. I pulled off the connector piece that the hose is connected to. I can blow through the hose. There is a little metal finger thing that you can tell pushes up into place when the water pressure is high. It seems like it is supposed to drop down and allow some soap through when the water is running. I found a loose(attached to nothing) gasket, looks like a little donut. It was just free floating in there. I’m thinking it may go over the finger mechanism. I just put it back on top of the finger, like a halo and put the screw in piece back in. Anyway, if you know, let me know how all that goes together.
ANSWER : I fixed mine works good too, watch my video step by step i put it on youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFXSLOBL0Mg

Its leaking water
ANSWER : Take it out of case
Connect to hose. Turn on tap & see were the leek is.

ANSWER : Tune up motor, replace air filter/spark plug and oil.

Water shoots out back instead of hose when engine is started
ANSWER : Problem description is very vague. The only thing for sure is that water seems to be coming out at the wrong place. Common problem could be related to improper storage. All water, or as much as possible, should be removed from the pump before cold weather storage. Many pumps are made from cast aluminum, which can easily crack or split from winter storage if enough water remained in the system during freezing weather. If it is an external part, such as the inlet or outlet tube, check the manufacturer for a replacement part, since these are sometimes replaceable. Another possibility could be a loose fitting on the pump. There is also an “O” ring on the connection to the outlet tube on the hose end. Check to make sure it is still there and not broken or crushed. Many hardware stores have “O” ring kits. It would be helpfull if you could pinpoint the source of the leak. Always separate the gun and hose from the pressure washer to drain out any remaining water. Freezing isn’t the only problem since you could have hard water that will leave mineral deposits when the water evaporates. This, according to some manufacturers will not be covered by the warrantee so I guess is should be something to avoid. Good Luck.
