For most two stage snow blowers, there are 2 or 3 belts under the cover. One belt will drive the auger, and the other will drive the wheels.
5 HP models require 1 belt. 8-10 HP models require 2 belt set. 3/8″ x 35″. Replaces MTD OE # 754-0430.
There are two belts you need to be familiar with when talking about car maintenance — the serpentine belt and the timing belt. The serpentine belt winds through your engine and carries power to several key components, including the alternator, air conditioning, and power steering pump.

When the auger looses some drive, or slips under load, an adjustment can be made to tighten the auger drive belt. The auger engaging cable has a spring on the bottom end. Remove the belt cover to expose this spring. Perform this adjustment by moving the spring up a notch.
Start the tape measure at the hole you use and measure to the end of the belt, where it meets the buckle. Belts are measured in inches and you should round to the nearest inch. If you measure 36 inches, you will want to purchase a size 36 belt.
Put on a pair of pants that fits well and stand in a relaxed position. Then wrap a soft tape measure through the belt loops so the tape is snug but not too tight. This measurement is your belt size. You may need to round up to the nearest even-numbered inch.
An easy way to determine belt size is to simply “add 2″ to your off-the-rack trouser size. For example, if you wear a 36” waist trouser, then a 38-belt size will be a safe bet. Most will find this simple formula works best for pants worn at a traditional height–close to the natural waistline.
V-belt cross sections can be identified by their top width and depth dimensions. For example, a v-belt with a top width of 21/32” and a depth of 7/16” is a “B” belt. You can also use our Browning Belt Rule that includes a gauge to help easily identify belt type.
The serpentine belt uses pulleys and a belt tensioner to transfer power from the engine crankshaft to all the other components, says TheDrive.com. There is only one serpentine belt on most modern cars, and it is constantly moving whenever your car is running.
Secondary deck drive belts power the lawn mower blades. Used with primary deck drive belt (M95121) that pulls power from the engine. John Deere belts contain strong material to prevent stretching and roll over which provides smooth engagement and consistent power to the mower deck.

Cub Cadet 1525 belt diagram
ANSWER : Attached is the blade diagram for correct placement of the deck belt. There is some bleed through from the back page, but you can see the direction of the belt. I have a 1525 mower for the last 11 years, still running and going. Hope this helps!
