Glyphosate residues in soil affect crop plant germination and growth.
About 2 weeks before you plan to reseed your lawn, mix Roundup® Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate Plus in a tank sprayer and treat the entire area to be reseeded.
Many of our clients often ask us the question, “Should I plant grass seed or kill the weeds first?” The answer is rather simple. The weeds should be killed first. Any weeds and poor looking grass around the lawn should be killed before any seeds are planted.
Yes, but always read the pesticide product label to be sure the product has been approved for this use.
Some insecticides induced significantly greater cytological aberrations and other detrimental effects, such as reduction in germination, seedling height and pollen fertility, than EMS.
It degrades at a relatively rapid rate in most soils, with half-life estimated between 7 and 60 days [12]. Many studies have indicated that the presence of glyphosate in the soil can enhance microbial activity [32,33], while some studies have also shown the toxic effects of glyphosate on soil microorganisms [34].
Avoid spraying weeds if the wind has picked up ahead of a storm, or in any particularly breezy conditions. Wind can cause the herbicide to drift and cause damage to plants you don`t plan on killing.
Current Roundup Ready crops include soy, corn, canola, alfalfa, cotton, and sorghum, with wheat under development. Roundup Ready crop seeds have notoriously been referred to as “terminator seeds.” This is because the crops produced from Roundup Ready seeds are sterile.
The farmer doesn`t have to wait long to spray. Glyphosate can be applied to RR canola at any time, including before or at emergence. However, waiting at least a couple of days after seeding gives weeds a chance to get growing again after the disturbance of seeding. Clean leaf area is important for glyphosate uptake.
You may rototill your garden to dig under existing weeds or you can spray out the garden with a non-selective herbicide such as glyphosate (Round-up). You should do this well before you plan to plant.
According to Scotts, the manufacturer of Roundup (glyphosate) weed killer, its safe to plant ornamental flowers, shrubs, and trees the next day; and they say you can plant grasses and edible plants and trees after three days.
When Roundup is dry, it`s safe for humans and pets. Just be sure that it`s 100 percent dry as the wet product can be hazardous.
In conclusion, negative side-effects on plant growth and nutrient status may be caused by glyphosate application at the recommended dosage. The physiological responses showed significantly reduced seed germination, shoot and root length.
Treated seeds have been coated with a pesticide to limit crop damage from fungus and insects. Seeds are coated in a brightly dyed dust, mist, or clay. The bright color warns that the seed is treated with pesticides. The treatment controls fungus, which can spread disease, reduce yield, and reduce crop quality.
This is why most weed killers are designed to evaporate within 24 to 78 hours. This means that for the most part, it is safe to plant anything, edible or non-edible, in a place where you have sprayed weed killer after three days. If you want to be extra sure, you can wait a week or two before planting.
Roundup has been linked to increased risk of bladder cancer, non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, prostate, and kidney cancer, and has been found to induce breast cancer cell growth. Glyphosate exposure has also been tied to cancer in dogs. Although Roundup may be OK around vegetables, you may want to stay away from it altogether.
Glyphosate has no soil activity and will therefore not affect seedlings when seeded even the same day of application.
3 Days After Application: Lawn grasses, herbs, vegetables, and fruits. 1 Day After Application: Ornamental flowers, trees, and shrubs.
Glyphosate is absorbed into plants primarily through its leaves, and only tiny amounts of it are absorbed into the roots. Consequently, glyphosate is actually only effective at killing growing weeds and grass. It cannot stop seeds from germinating in the first place.

ANSWER : I assume you are talking mixing ratios. In most cases a 1% roundup to water mixture will kill many plants. On very stubborn species you can go to a 2% concentrate but anything above that in my opinion you’re just wasting your money. More isn’t always better when it comes to weed killers.
