Echo

I have an Echo straight shaft whipper snipper. I do not have a manual. I want to remove the original head system and place a differnt head on to the unit. How do I undo the head??

Thanks Greg

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
After much mucking around I noticed a hole in the top shroud of the shaft. I placed a narrow screw driver through the hole until it made contact with the rotating part of the head and pushed until the head would not turn. I thern applied pressure clockwise until the head became loose. I did the reverse to tighten. The head of the unit will rotate anti clockwise to tighten as the shaft rotates clockwise during operation. I hope this explains the method.
Thank you any way for your interest.

Greg

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Worn clutch – Since the string trimmer clutch engages with one or more drive shafts attached to the trimmer head to rotate the head when the throttle trigger is depressed, a worn-out clutch may prevent the trimmer head from spinning. A new clutch assembly is relatively inexpensive and easy to install.
If you decide to run a longer trimmer line, you need to completely remove the guard. If you only remove the blade, the trimmer line will get too long and get wrapped up in the guard. As the string wraps around the guard it increases the resistance on the engine and causes the engine to lose its power and RPMs.
Fixed head systems use individual lengths of line that are loaded or threaded into the trimmer one at a time as needed. This avoids some of the hassles of winding line onto trimmer heads and makes the overall process of dealing with trimmer line less cumbersome.
