Mowed the grass then gave it a bath and now won’t start. left it set a couple days figured something got wet. but still nothing. Has gas good spark every now and then a small poof from the carb. pulled flywheel off all looked good cleaned everything and put back together and still nothing. I’m sure I will get it figured out at some point but any info would be great.

Thanks

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
A good drying agent is WD 40. Spray all the suspect electrical parts under the flywheel and then dry it out with a clean paper towel.
Then, leave it open all day in a dry garage or better yet, dry it out with a hair dryer. (don’t get things too hot) If your mower has “points”, use a very fine file to go between the points to remove any possible tiny accumulation of rust. Not sure weather you have a traditional magneto or a modern electronic ignition system.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Your lawn mower turning over but not starting due to several reasons, such as a faulty or disconnected plug, a disconnected spark plug wire, a clogged air filter, or a contaminated fuel tank. A faulty carburetor, a dirty cutting deck, or a dysfunctional flywheel brake can also cause this.
A Dirty Carburetor Can Cause a Lawnmower To Start Then Die

By far, the most common issue that causes a stalled motor is a dirty carburetor. The carburetor on your engine is the thing that draws in air and mixes it with the fuel. Contrary to what the movies might make you think, gasoline itself is not very flammable.

A dirty carburetor is one of the most common causes for a lawn mower not being able to start after sitting unused for months or years at a time.
If the engine starter motor turns over, the starter solenoid needs to be replaced. If the engine starter motor does not turn over once a jumper wire is connected to the two large lugs on the starter solenoid, replace the engine starter motor.
Thankfully, your dead grass will probably grow back with the proper care if you`ve caught the problem quickly (within about 3-5 weeks). Depending on why it died in the first place, you`ll need to aerate, water, and/or manage unwanted pests.
The most common cause of a mower that runs for thirty minutes and then dies is a faulty armature. A faulty gas cap is the second most likely cause.
The most common cause of your mower engine not starting after a long period of storage is stale fuel, but there are many other possible reasons there could be a fault. Our advice is to contact your local lawn mower servicing provider for a professional inspection.
The most common reason your car starts then dies immediately is because of a lack of fuel in the engine. This often happens because there is a small amount of fuel in the fuel rail, which helps to start the engine. However, there is no fuel pressure to keep the engine running.
The most common reason for a surging lawn mower engine is a blockage in the fuel supply, but there are other possibilities: Bad gas. Bad spark plug. Dirty/faulty carburetor.

Why my blade wont engage on my toro 74370 zeroturn mower
ANSWER : It has an electromagnetic clutch switch on it,that is more than likely bad. Try this, pull the pto switch out and start the engine, then disconnect the 2 wires coming from the switch and just tap them together and see if they will come on. If they do then you need to replace that switch.

Scag tiger cat wont start
ANSWER : I would put new plugs in change the oil put a new in line gas filter in. After this tune-up check for spark by leaving the plug out on the moter body crank it over if the spark is hot you know its a gas problem also check for any grounding by starting it at night then looking around to the engine to see if its grounding out. Try these simple things. Do not change anything on the moter without doing these things first. Good luck
