How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The fuel line may be clogged from stale fuel deposits, more reasons to cause your chainsaw to cut out when applying throttle. If a fuel line is cracked, it will leak gasoline and draw air from outside into the fuel line. If the line is leaking fuel, it needs to be replaced.
The carburetor might be clogged. A clogged carburetor is often caused by leaving fuel in the chainsaw for a long period of time. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and cause the chainsaw engine to stall.
Stihl carburetors have three adjustment screws. One controls the fuel mixture when the engine is idling, one controls it when the engine is operating at low speed and one is for high-speed fuel control. When the saw bogs down during cutting, it`s usually the high-speed screw you need to adjust.
If a log is not sitting firmly on the ground when you cut, the downward force can cause the log to close up on your chain. Pinching of the blade is more likely to occur when you`re cutting from the top down.
If the saw you`re using isn`t powerful enough to cut through the wood, it won`t cut and will keep stopping. As a result, make sure your saw has adequate power to cut through the material you`re working with, and invest in a bespoke blade. The blade will continue to halt until it has gained sufficient strength.
Does your circular saw keep stopping? The most likely culprits are a slipping clutch, a lack of power, a loose blade, dust in the power switch, a blown breaker, or a dying motor.
The most likely culprit is a dirty or clogged air filter. Issues with your fuel pump or fuel filter can also cause your engine to idle then die with any throttle. If you have an older car, it could also be a bad carburetor.
If the carburetor is clogged, it may only work with the choke engaged, which is not a good way to be running your engine. Cleaning the carburetor and replacing some of the internal parts with a new carb kit is a great way to get your carburetor running properly again.
Fuel: Make sure it is fresh and correctly mixed (see `Starting Issues`). Air filter: Make sure it is clean and unclogged. Fuel cap: Make sure it`s hand-tight. Please ensure when you are attempting to use the chainsaw that the chain brake is disengaged.
If the engine is low on power, it will bog down when you try to accelerate. This could be caused by a number of different issues, including low compression, a bad timing belt, sucking too much air, or even a head gasket leak.
STIHL recommends that you do not run your engine at wide open throttle without a load. A blower is under a load at all times, a trimmer is under a load as long as the trimmer head is in place and the line is to the correct length, while a chainsaw is under a load when the bar and chain are in a cut.
A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
How long the chainsaw runs before dying depends on how badly clogged the air filter is. In the case that your chainsaw runs for a while, then dies, it may be possible to simply clean the air filter to correct this symptom. However, a damaged air filter should be replaced.
This could be a number of things and is most likely fuel or storage related. Over a short period of time, fuel will become stale. If the unit is stored with stale gasoline, the system will become clogged or restricted. Fuel related failures are not warranty.
Uneven wear of the guide bar in turn causes the chain to rotate at an angle rather than aligned with the bar, creating a vicious circle of wear. Your chainsaw might also cut crooked because the guide bar is incorrectly mounted or the sprocket is worn out.
