There are a few different Toro lawn mower models. Rear wheel drive models have a drive belt that runs to the rear of the machine. Front wheel drive models have a drive belt that`s connected to the front of the mower.
In the lawnmower application, the drive belt transfers the radial torque of the engine shaft to the input shaft of the transmission, which then is powered to turn and perform the function of the lawnmower: propelling the mower forward and spinning the blade.
Traditionally belts come with 5 holes…and most people will tell you that you should fit into the middle hole of these 5.
For most cars, the belt will be located at the front of the engine. When checking the belt, always make sure the car is switched off and cooled down. Your belt should be inspected with each oil change. Mechanics will normally check the belt to ensure no significant damage has occurred.
A: Your mower has two belts. Both play a role in making the blades turn. The “Deck Belt” goes around the pulleys right above the blades on the deck and then to a double pulley. The “Drive Belt” on your mower goes from the transmission, around an Idler pulley then over to the double pulley I mentioned before.
The engine drive belt is located on the front of your engine and is used to rotate the engine accessories. The belt is driven by the engine crankshaft, and while the engine is running, the belt turns with the crankshaft, which in turn rotates any pulley that the belt wraps around.
