Push the new cable through the firewall and into the engine compartment. Step 2: Hook the new cable up to the accelerator pedal. Slide the new cable through the slotted hole in the accelerator pedal. Step 3: Reconnect the throttle cable to the retaining bracket.
Pour penetrating oil into the cable (Photo 1). Grab the inner cable with pliers and work it up and down to loosen it. When the cable moves freely and all the penetrating oil has drained out, squirt silicone lubricant into the funnel to keep the cable sliding freely. Reinstall the cable (Photo 2).

I have a Crafstman Riding mower model #917.273643. That ran fine one second, I shut it off for five minutes. When I went to start it back up it wouldn’t start. Cranks fine, checked the wires, fuse, and spark plug. The plug was dirty so I cleaned it. But I am not getting any spark. I bought a new plug still no spark. I also checked the plug on another motor and I had spark so the plug wasn’t bad. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this or what may be wrong?

My 42 in Craftsman Tractor will not start. It normally runs great. I went to start it the other day and it ran for about 5 seconds before shutting down. It felt like it was getting no fuel. Any Suggestions?
ANSWER : Try and run it with the gas cap loose the vent could be plugged also see if it cuts out while keeping you foot on the brake and its just a bad safety switch shutting it off
