How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
When a three point hitch will not go down, the most frequent cause is the hydraulic flow speed control valve, usually located between your knees under the seat, is closed with the knob closed all the way to its stop. Check this control and make sure that the valve is all of the way open.
Three point linkage (or three-point-hitch) is a standardised system to attach implements to tractors. They comprise of three movable arms assembled in a triangle or `A` formation, and are controlled by the hydraulic system allowing lifting, lowering and tilting.
Most 3 point arms float naturally. One can grab a side and lift it from a lowered position. there is only gravity and the weight of implement / lift arm to lower it. Very few 3 point systems have actual down pressure which would need assistance in floating during use.
Depressing the switch activates pressure within the cylinders, which retracts the cylinder arm, pulling the hitch arms down, creating the additional down pressure on the 3-point hitch. NOTE: Additional parts may be required for installation.
Class 2 vs Class 3 Hitch
Class 2 hitches are quite different from class 3 hitches. Class 2 hitches have a 1-1/4″ receiver and generally only go up to 3,500 lbs. GTW. On the other hand, class 3 hitches have a 2″ receiver and can range up to 8,000 lbs. gross trailer weight.
Although the design of each 3 point hitch category is the same, the hitch pin sizes and lower hitch spacing vary by category. Each 3 point hitch category is designed for a specific range of tractor horsepower with category zero being the lowest horsepower and category 4 being the highest.
Three-point hitches are composed of three movable arms. The two lower arms—the hitch lifting arms—are controlled by the hydraulic system, and provide lifting, lowering, and even tilting to the arms. The upper center arm—called the top link—is movable, but is usually not powered by the tractor`s hydraulic system.

If it has a clutch, that would be the problem. An electric clutch will kick on and off when it is hot if it is bad.
HAVE A JOHN DEERE 318 LAWN TRACTOR, CHANGED POINTS AND CONDENSER, WON’T TURN OVER, TRIED STARTING FLUID IN CARB AND NOTHING. CAN IT BE THE COIL AND HOW DO I CHECK? THANKS
Check the coil impedance on the primary and secondary side. You’ll have to disconnect the battery negative cable so you don’t short something out. Unplug the spark plug wires and the two sets of smaller wires connected to the primary side of the coil. The primary coil reading should be between 3.7 ohms and 4.6 ohms while the secondary (spark plug side) should be between 34.2 k-ohms and 41.6 k-ohms. If the resistance values you measure are outside of these ranges, you need to replace the coil.

If you have no spark the first thing to replace the time delay module on the left rear side of engine. Its black and about 2 inches by 1 inch with yellow, red, orange and black wires going to it. Replacement is round shaped with same amount of wires. If no fuel to carb check for flow at filter, if theres flow but no pressure look for a split fuel line in tank between pump and sender.
