Further, a smaller impact WRENCH (3/8″ square drive or smaller 1/2″ square drive model) may not have the torque or power necessary to remove lug nuts from a vehicle. This is especially true if the lug nuts (or bolts) were installed with a pneumatic impact wrench, or are seized on.

Yes, that is a common sort of figure for an impact wrench. The only automotive hex I can think of that needs that high a figure is the crankshaft nose bolt on the harmonic balancer pulley. Wheel nuts are lower, say 90–110 Nm.
Attach each lug nut by hand, and then use a manual torque wrench to tighten until you hear the `click` sound that indicates you`ve reached the right amount of torque. The number—usually in the 75-100 lb-ft range—should be easy to locate in your vehicle`s owner`s manual.
Be careful not to overtighten fixings as you will strip or stretch the threads. This is the most common mistake. It`s easy to underestimate the amount of torque applied by an impact wrench, especially for inexperienced workers. Even if no damage is done, over-tightened fixings can be difficult to loosen.
A torque wrench is a tightening tool.
It is a very sensitive and precise tightening tool, and should never been used to loosen bolts.
Either 3/8” or ½” will work just fine on lug nuts, with ½” being more common and powerful and a bit more expensive. Since you might want to fit other sockets to it occasionally (besides what fits your car`s lug nuts), it is good to consider the size of other sockets you already own.
