How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Use the “backdrag” technique to remove snow piled against a structure. Raise the blade and approach the snowbank. Lower the blade a few inches away from the building, and then drive in reverse, dragging the snow with you. Then, raise the blade, move the truck behind the snow pile, and plow the snow off to one side.
Plow lift strap kit replaces steel (wire) or synthetic winch line during plow season or also suitable for year-round with all front mounted tools like buckets or push brooms which require lifting by ATV winch. Reduces wear and tear on your winch and roller while helping raise and lower your front mounted equipments.
Scoop-Position

It`s most useful for clearing parking lots or other large areas where snow must be pushed straight ahead–and not to the side. It`s also useful for cleanup work at the end of the job. You`ll find the Scoop-position to be the most useful for many plowing situations. And it`s also a great time-saver.

Plow will not raise or raises slowly (pump motor runs). Check hydraulic fluid level. Hydraulic fluid level should be within ¾” from top of reservoir when lowered and in the V-position. Check power/ground cables and control cable are connected properly.
Check Your Fuse

The fuses in your plow connectors and in your truck`s charging system, are designed to burn out to prevent damage to sensitive electrical components. Make sure both the wired plow connection and the vehicle`s fuses are all in proper working order as part of your troubleshooting plan.

Plow in straight lines whenever possible and push to the outer edges of the lot. Keep the wind direction in mind–and pile snow downwind to minimize drifting later. Plow snow during low-traffic hours and always be cautious of cars and people in the lot.
It`s made to keep your hands and fingers far away from the winch and fairlead when spooling line in. So, when you`re done with your pulling task and need to re-spool your line onto the drum, hold onto that hook strap as the hook comes back toward the fairlead. It`s a simple, effective precaution.
Description. The A6 straps are essential for the proper handling of winch hooks, or any wire rope hook. Pull straps are used to safely hold the hook while keeping fingers away from the fairlead.
A snowplow works by using a blade to push snow to the side to clear it from a surface. Modern plows may include technology to make it easier to perform the work and stay on the road. These include Global Positioning System receivers, head-up displays and infrared cameras.
transitive verb. : to reinvest (profits) in a business.
Medium plowing… 5 to 6 inches. Deep plowing… 7 to 8 inches.
Don`t Rely on Your Mirrors—When moving in reverse, don`t rely completely on your mirrors. Instead, turn around and look where you are going. Don`t Rush—Plowing speed should be reasonable and appropriate for conditions and traffic. Use extra caution when plowing next to curbs, vehicles and other obstructions.
Auto Plow Mode

Automatic Mode allows the display to automatically lower the plow when you shift to Low and will automatically raise the plow when you shift to Reverse.

What height should my plow mount be at? Hiniker designs their plows to perform best with a prong height of about 10”. This dimension is from the bottom of the prong (fork) to the ground. An inch one way or the other usually isn`t a problem.
Angle plowing is efficient because it creates windrows and keeps moving snow closer to the edge of a lot. You`re able to plow in both directions, moving snow one way from the center on the first pass and, on the return pass, moving it the same way off of the opposite end of the plow.
1. Snowblower Non-Stick Spray. Snowblower non-stick spray coats the chute and auger just like a cooking spray, shielding the metal so snow passes through without sticking, clumping, or clogging.
Consult your snowplow Owner`s Manual for fuse replacement. Fuses are located both underhood and on the hydraulic unit.
Looking at the horsepower that your machine has is an important aspect to choosing the size of your box plow. To push an 8 foot BOSS box plow, you`ll need a minimum of 45+ horsepower on a skid steer. To push some of our larger plows, like the LDR 16 foot box plow, you need a minimum of 170+ horsepower.
Salt is usually applied prior to plowing to help make snow removal more efficient. After the salt is applied, cars work the salt into the snow to help make the salt do its job. Slush created by the salt and traffic can then be pushed off of the roadways.
Traditional plowing leads to soil loss. Plowing disturbs bacteria, fungi, and animals that make soils naturally fertile, and it releases the carbon stored in soil organic matter to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. It also raises the risk of erosion, which moves fertile farm soil into bodies of water.
Oxen are castrated male cattle who are trained in yoke to pull a multitude of equipment. Oxen tend to move more slowly than horses but have better stamina making them ideal for plowing large fields. Vermont`s history of dairy also plays into its loyalty to oxen and steer.
A typical front plow will vary in size from 10 to 13 feet in width and will weigh up to 4,000 pounds. Some trucks are equipped with wing plows which are 11 feet in width and weigh 2,500 pounds.
Plowing refreshes the planting field by overturning a brand new layer of soil. However, you want to wait until the soil that you previously buried through plowing have had the time to break down and develop. Plowing every month is unnecessary and counter-productive. It`s better to do this once or twice a year.
A winch is used to pull a load horizontally over a slight incline, whereas a hoist is used to lift a load vertically over inclines greater than 45 degrees. It`s important for users to choose the right equipment for applications requiring hoisting or pulling.

Mower won’t start
ANSWER : This may sound stupid but don’t mean it to…
Have you tried with the choke all the way open? Do you have an automatic cruise? Is the right (correct) pedal being pushed in? These will affect if it starts or not. Also if your drive belt or one of the other belts not being tight enough will affect if it starts or just turns over. Not too many things can stope it from starting with new/good battery AND if its getting gas. Try cleaning your gas line and obviously making sure there is no obstruction around or near your blade, if it does start with blade engaged that is :))
If it doesn’t start with blade engaged, well make sure it’s in neutral. Mine won’t start in reverse but will in forward or neutral.

Hope it helps.

My mower will start but won't stay running – Toro LX466 22HP Lawn Tractor 13RT61RH244
ANSWER : I am going to respond 2 times to this post. The first reply will be generic things to check.
First off check the oil level and make sure it is serviced to full.
If your having a lack of fuel (runing lean) you will need to check fuel flow at the carb fuel mainfold. It should fill a spray paint can lid in less than 10 seconds but teting flow rated of the main fuel line. If you have poor flow here… you need to check the fuel filter and the fuel tank outlet port for obstructions.

Good Fuel flow still shutting off…. remove the carb float bow and clean the debris from the bow’ and the treaded area where the fuel solenoid mounts Additionally you will have to again remove the main fuel line and spray carb cleaner in the float needle area to flush out any debris through the fuel hose connection.

For the second response I need to know which engine is installed on your mower by MODEL number if you can locate it. (there are 3 engines) At least try to find the engine model number. If you can not locate it Brand and HP of the engine (I assume 22 hp) Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
