How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

This can be as simple as the lawn mower having run out of fuel or battery, or in the case of electric mowers, the cable coming out of the socket. Also check cables, fuses and breakers for electric mowers. Trimming too much grass in one go can cause the lawn mower to get bogged down which will make it stop.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
If the starter motor spins but does not crank the engine, you likely have a problem with… Faulty or damaged battery. To address this issues, check the battery and charging system for problems.
When nothing happens, you turn on the choke and continue pulling until you detect the familiar smell of gasoline, which means the engine is flooded. The conventional remedy for a flooded engine is to let it set for 15 minutes or so to give the carburetor time to dry.
Blocked cooling fins may be one of the more common causes of overheating in mowers specifically, since all the grass and debris from lawns or fields can easily end up in the cooling fins, keeping air from circulating and cooling the engine down.
The spark plugs are worn or damaged

If you find that your lawnmower keeps dying, or keeps stalling while cutting grass, then inspect the spark plugs. Look for signs of damage or wear. Something as simple as a cracked porcelain insulator can mean an electrode has been damaged or burned away.

Clogged or Dirty Air Filters

It is one of the most common problems that cause lawnmowers to sputter. The mowers take the air from the surrounding through air filters and mix it with fuel inside the engine. So, if the air filter is clogged or dirty, it will affect the flow of air into the carburetor.

As the fuel level drops, a vacuum begins to form in the fuel tank because air can get in to fill the space the consumed fuel occupied. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the vacuum will become strong enough that fuel will stop flowing to the carburetor and the lawnmower will die.
If the battery is weak or in poor shape, it may be enough to cause the starter motor to fail. The battery doesn`t have to be completely dead to cause issues. At the battery, a poor connection at the terminal may cause a clicking sound when switching the ignition. Corrosion of the battery can also cause issues.
1 Start motor engages but the engine doesn`t turn

The simplest cause of this sort of fault is a loose or corroded electrical connection. If there is a fault with the internal windings of the starter motor, bad brushes, or other electrical faults, the starter motor may lack the torque to crank the engine.

Air filter

Once blocked with dust and debris, it cannot supply the required amount of oxygen to your trimmer` engine resulting in power loss. Find the air filter, take out this component, clean and reassemble it. Replace the part if you cannot reuse it. Follow this step regularly to avoid any problems in the future.
